The 1998 Ginebra San Miguel season was the 20th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Formerly known as Gordon's Gin Boars in the All-Filipino Cup, the team revert to their former name Ginebra San Miguel starting the Commissioner's Cup. Robert Jaworski
Robert Vincent Salazar Jaworski Sr. (; born March 8, 1946) is a Filipino former professional basketball player, head coach and politician who served as a Senator of the Philippines from 1998 to 2004. He played 23 seasons in the Philippine Basketball Association. He is widely regarded as one of the best and most popular PBA players of all-time. John Strickland (May 20, 1970 — October 6, 2010) was a former professional basketball and streetball player. He was a native of Washington Heights NYC who left to play college basketball. He later played at Hawaii Pacific University where he averaged a double-double each season. He went on to play at the USBL for 6 seasons where he averaged 22 points per game. Kenneth Victor Payne (born November 25, 1966) is an American college basketball coach and former player who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Louisville. Prior to being hired at Louisville, Payne spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
