1998 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship
The 1998 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 68th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 22 April 1998 and ended on 13 September 1998. Clare entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Cork in the Munster final. On 13 September 1998, Cork won the championship following a 2-15 to 1-09 defeat of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final. This was their 17th All-Ireland title overall and their first title since 1995. Wexford's Leon O'Connell was the championship's top scorer with 3-37. Denis Burns
Denis Gerard Burns (born 1952) is an Irish former hurling manager and player who played as a right corner-back at senior level for the Cork county team. Born in Cork, Burns was introduced to hurling in his youth before later coming to prominence at underage levels with the St Finbarr's club. An All-Ireland medal winner at senior level as captain, Burns also won three Munster medals and five championship medals. Burns made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty when he first linked up with the Cork under-21 team. An All-Ireland medal winner in this grade, he later made his senior debut during the 1974-75 league. Burns went on to play a key role for Cork in defence during a hugely successful era, and won three All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals, one National Hurling League medal plus Oireachtas and Wembley Tournament medals. Lismore GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. The club enters teams in both GAA codes each year, which includes two adult hurling teams and one adult Gaelic football team in the Waterford County Championships. The club has won county titles in both Hurling and football, but in recent history the club has been mainly concerned with the game of hurling. Gaelic Grounds
The Gaelic Grounds, know for sponsorshop reasons as the TUS Gaelic Grounds, is the principal GAA stadium in the Irish city of Limerick, home to the Limerick hurling and football teams. It has a capacity of 44,023. History 9 October 1926 saw first steps taken towards creating the Limerick Gaelic Grounds as a GAA stadium of note. A farm containing was purchased at Coolraine on the Ennis Road for development as a sporting grounds. Two years later the new grounds officially opened with two junior hurling games. The first big effort to raise funds for the development of the grounds was in 1932, with the establishment of a development committee, whose remit was to level the pitch, providing sideline seating and erect a boundary wall. The Munster GAA Hurling Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland Munster GAA Hurling Minor Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).
