1997–98 Liga Indonesia Premier Division
The 1997–98 Liga Indonesia Premier Division (known as the Liga Kansas for sponsorship reasons) was the fourth season of the Liga Indonesia Premier Division, the top division of Indonesian football. There were 31 teams involved in this season. Persebaya were the defending champions, and were leading when the season was abandoned by order of the military on 25 May 1998 due to political and economic turmoil in the country. Liga 2 (English: ''League Two'') is the second-tier of the football competition system in Indonesia, organized by PSSI. Before 2017, this competition was named the Liga Indonesia Premier Division (from 1994 to 2007, it was the top-tier division in the Indonesian football league system). History The competition is usually divided into several groups because of geographic and number of participants factors. Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Kuta Raja, commonly known as Persiraja, is an Indonesian football club based in Banda Aceh, Aceh. They currently compete in the Liga 2. They play their home matches either at Harapan Bangsa Stadium or H. Dimurthala Stadium. Their most memorable achievements is when they became champion of Perserikatan in 1980. History Persiraja Banda Aceh was founded as a semi-professional team on 28 July 1957, initiated by PSSI. The name change from previous Persib Banda to its current name is unknown to the public. Arseto Football Club, which is commonly referred to simply as Arseto, was an Indonesian football club based in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia. They last played in the Liga Indonesia Premier Division. The club was established in 1978 by Sigit Harjojudanto, who was the son of former President Suharto. At first, the club was based in Jakarta. However, the club moved to Solo in 1983 after Suharto declared 9 September as National Sports Day during the inauguration of Sriwedari Stadium.
