1997 Saudi Crown Prince Cup
The 1997 Crown Prince Cup was the 22nd season of the Saudi premier football knockout tournament since its establishment in 1957. The main competition started on 24 April and concluded with the final on 16 May 1997. Al-Shabab were the defending champions; however, they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Al-Tai. In the final, Al-Ittihad defeated Al-Tai 2–0 to secure their record-extending fifth title. The final was held at the Youth Welfare Stadium in Jeddah. As winners of the tournament, Al-Ittihad qualified for the 1998–99 Asian Cup Winners' Cup. As runners-up, Al-Tai qualified for the 1998 Arab Cup Winners' Cup. Al-Shabab Football Club ( ar, نادي الشباب), or The Youth Football Club, in English, is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Riyadh. It was founded in 1947, and was at first named ''Shabab Al Riyadh''. (), meaning Riyadhi Youth, but in 1967 was renamed ''Al Shabab''. History Al Shabab was the First football club in Riyadh. Saudi Second Division
The Saudi Second Division , also known as the Second Division League (SDL), is a football league that is the third tier of the Saudi Arabian football league system. The league consists of 32 teams divided into two groups and was founded in 1996. Promotion and relegation The top 3 teams are promoted to the First Division League. The first two teams of each group will advance directly to the First Division League, and the second two teams of each group will compete in two round-trip matches, and the winning team will advance to the First Division League as the third team. The bottom two clubs of each group are relegated to the Third Division League. Al-Ettifaq was established after the merging of three clubs in the city of Dammam at the year 1944. Al-Ahli Saudi Football Club ( ar, النادي الأهلي السعودي) is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Jeddah, that competes in the second division of Saudi Arabian football, following their relegation from the Saudi Professional League in the 2021–22 season. Al-Qadsiah Football Club ( ar, نادي القادسية) is a Saudi Arabian professional football club that competes in the Saudi First Division League. They are based in Khobar and their home ground is the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium. Sudden Death (sport)
In a sport or game, sudden death (also sudden-death, sudden-death overtime, or a sudden-death round) is a form of competition where play ends as soon as one competitor is ahead of the others, with that competitor becoming the winner. Sudden death is typically used as a tiebreaker when a contest is tied at the end of regulation (normal) playing time or the completion of the normal playing task. An alternative tiebreaker method to sudden death is to play an extra, shortened segment of the game. In association football 30 minutes of extra time (overtime) after 90 minutes of normal time, or in golf one playoff round (18 holes) after four standard rounds (72 holes) are two alternatives.
