1997 Saskatchewan Roughriders Season
The 1997 Saskatchewan Roughriders finished in third place in the West Division with an 8–10 record and lost in the 85th Grey Cup game to the Doug Flutie-led Toronto Argonauts. Despite finishing the season tied with the BC Lions, the Roughriders were placed above the Lions after winning the season series three games to one. The 'Riders proceeded to upset the Calgary Stampeders by a score of 33–30 in the West-Semi Final and then defeated the favoured Edmonton Eskimos 31–30 to proceed to the Grey Cup game. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division (CFL), East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. Lamar V. McGriggs (born May 9, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois) is a former National Football League and Canadian Football League linebacker, having last played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. A undrafted quarterback from Iowa State Cyclones football, Iowa State University, Archer played six seasons in the National Football League (NFL) from 1984 to 1989 for the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers, and Philadelphia Eagles. A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football.
