The 1997 Polish Speedway season was the 1997 season of motorcycle speedway in Poland. Individual Polish Individual Speedway Championship The 1997 Individual Speedway Polish Championship final was held on 15 August at Częstochowa. Jacek Krzyżaniak won the Polish title. Golden Helmet The 1997 Golden Golden Helmet ( pl, Turniej o Złoty Kask, ZK) organised by the Polish Motor Union (PZM) was the 1997 event for the league's leading riders. The final was held at Wrocław on the 3 October. Tomasz Gollob won his fourth Golden Helmet Championship. The 1996 Polish Speedway season was the 1996 season of motorcycle speedway in Poland. Individual Polish Individual Speedway Championship The 1996 Individual Speedway Polish Championship final was held on 15 August at Warsaw. Sławomir Drabik won the Polish title for the second time and five years after his first triumph in 1991 Polish speedway season, 1991. Roman Jankowski
Roman Jankowski (born 5 October 1957 in Kościan, Poland) is a speedway rider active from 1976 until 2006. He is a former Polish Champion, having won the title in 1981 and again in 1988. Roman has also represented Poland at the World Team Cup. He rode for the Hackney Hawks in 1980 and 1981. Currently he is the youth coach and manager of Unia Leszno. Roman's three sons, Łukasz, Marcin and Norbert are all speedway riders. Dariusz Śledź (born 15 September 1969) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Poland, who rode in the 1995 Speedway Grand Prix of Poland. Śledź won the Polish league three times. In February 2009 he was appointed coach of the speedway club Stal Rzeszów, after previously managing the WTS Atlas team. In 2019 he became a manager of Sparta Wroclaw. Piotr Świst (born June 20, 1968 in Poland) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. His surname "Świst" means 'whizz' in Polish. Career Świst spent his first 13 seasons in Poland with Stal Gorzów Wielkopolski from 1985 through to 1997. In that time he won a silver medal in the 1987 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship and three Polish U-21 Championships in 1987, 1988 and 1989. Additionally he won the Golden Helmet in 2008 and the Polish Pairs Championship in 1992. On three occasions he reached the podium of the Polish Individual Speedway Championship (1993, 1995 and 2002).
