The Seventh Mother of all Battles Championship ( ar, بطولة أم المعارك السابعة), commonly referred to as the 1997 Iraqi Elite Cup ( ar, كأس النخبة العراقي 1997), was the seventh occurrence of the Iraqi Elite Cup, organised by the Iraq Football Association. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya
Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya ( ar, نادي القوة الجوية الرياضي, lit=Air Force Club) is an Iraqi sports club based in Rusafa District, Baghdad that competes in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Founded in 1931, it is the oldest existing club in Iraq. Its football team is one of the most successful in Iraq having won seven Iraqi Premier League titles, most recently in the 2020–21 season, which it won alongside its fifth Iraq FA Cup title. Hussam Fawzi Naji (born 3 September 1974) is an Iraqi football manager and former player who played as a forward. He was the captain of the Iraq national team. Playing career Hussam was a leader of the Iraqi strikeforce capable of moments of genius during a game. He scored two goals against Al-Shorta in the 2–1 win in the Iraqi Cup final in 1996. The greatest moment in his career came when he scored one goal and set-up another against Iran at the 1996 Asian Cup and was later awarded man of the match. Essam Hamad
Essam Hamad Salem ( ar, عصام حمد سالم; born 22 October 1973) is an Iraqi football coach and former player. He played as a midfielder for Iraq in the 2000 Asian Cup. Essam also played for Al-Karkh, Al-Taawun, and Al-Zawraa at club level. Club level Hamad won the double (league and cup) twice, with Al-Zawraa in the 1994–95 and 1995–96 seasons. International career Having already played for the Iraq Olympic team at the qualifiers for the 1996 Summer Olympics, Hamad began playing for the senior team in 1995.
