The 1997 Bandy World Championship was contested between 9 men's bandy playing nations. The championship was played in Sweden on 1–9 February 1997. Sweden National Bandy Team
The Sweden national bandy team ( sv, Sveriges herrlandslag i bandy) represents Sweden in the sport of bandy. There are two separate national teams, a national bandy team for men, and a national bandy team for women. This article deals chiefly with Sweden's national men's bandy team. Sweden has been playing friendlies against Finland and Norway since the early 20th century. In 1907 and 1909 there were also occasional games against Russia and Denmark. The games were set up informally from 1907 and in official internationals from 1919. Agreements were made to play friendlies against Soviet Union in the late 1940s, but the plans did not come to realization. Finland, Norway and Sweden played bandy at the Winter Olympics in Oslo in 1952. After having seen them there, the Soviet Union invited these three countries to a four nation bandy tournament in 1954. Halmstads Bollklubb, also known simply as Halmstad () or (especially locally) HBK or Bollklubben, is a Swedish Association football, football club located in Halmstad in the county of Halland. The August Prize ( sv, Augustpriset) is an annual Swedish literary prize awarded each year since 1989 by the Swedish Publishers' Association. The prize is awarded to the best Swedish book of the year, in three categories. Prize In the years 1989-1992, the prize was awarded in one general category. Since 1992, the prize has been awarded in the categories Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Children's and Youth Literature. The prize is named after the writer August Strindberg. Selection All Swedish publishers may submit nominations for the award. In each category, a jury shortlists six titles each. These titles are then read and voted on by an assembly of 63 electors, 21 in each category. The electors come from across the country, and comprise booksellers, librarians and literary critics. Majgull Axelsson (born 1947 in Landskrona) is a Swedish journalist and writer. She grew up in Nässjö and completed her education in journalism. Life and career Her first book was non-fiction, and focused on the problems of child prostitution and street children in third world, and poverty in Sweden. ''April Witch'' ( sv, Aprilhäxan) is a 1997 novel by Swedish author Majgull Axelsson. It won the August Prize in 1997. Plot The book is about Desirée, who is severely disabled, and her three foster sisters, who are all named after the "hagasessas". Because she was taken away to an institution as a child because of her disability, the sisters do not know her, but she can follow their lives as she is an "April Witch" and can see through the eye of any other creature. Martin Melin
Martin Melin (born 6 March 1967), is a Swedish author, police officer, television personality, and the world's first winner of the TV reality series Expedition Robinson (the first of the Survivor series). Melin is the son of historian Jan Melin. In 2010, Melin married author Camilla Läckberg; the now divorced couple have one child together. Melin won the reality television show Expedition Robinson 1997 on 13 December. In the late 1990s, Melin appeared on numerous shows such as ''På rymmen'', ''Jakten på ökenguldet'' and ''Hon och han''.
