1997 Dallas Cowboys
The 1997 Dallas Cowboys season was the franchise's 38th season in the National Football League (NFL) and was the fourth and final season under head coach Barry Switzer. Before the season considered among the favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XXXII—which would have been their fourth such appearance in the 1990s—the team took a significant step backwards. The Cowboys not only failed to improve on their 10–6 record from 1996 Dallas Cowboys season, 1996, they finished with a losing record for the first time since 1990 Dallas Cowboys season, 1990 and failed to qualify for the playoffs. William Dexter Coakley (born October 20, 1972) is a former American football linebacker who played ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was a third round draft choice of the Dallas Cowboys in the 1997 NFL Draft, out of Division I-AA school Appalachian State. Coakley was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011 making him Appalachian State's first inductee. Early years Coakley graduated from Wando High School, where he earned four letters in football. Barry Macey Brooks (born March 2, 1975) is a former professional American football wide receiver in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears. He was also a co-owner and wide receivers coach for the Kane County Dawgs of the Continental Indoor Football League. He played college football at James Madison University. The Syracuse Orange football team represents Syracuse University in the sport of American football. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. Antonio Kenneth Anderson (born June 4, 1973) is a former American professional football defensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking.
