1997 BC Lions Season
The 1997 CFL season, 1997 BC Lions finished in fourth place in the West Division with an 8–10 record. Because of the "crossover" rule, they appeared in the East Semi-Final. The Lions became the first West Division team to appear in the Canadian Football League East Division, East Division playoffs, but lost to the Montreal Alouettes. Bret Anderson
Bret Anderson (born April 23, 1974) is a former Canadian football placekicker and slotback who played his entire career for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. Anderson is 6'3" and 215 lbs. He played 13 years in the CFL, mostly as a slotback and all with the Lions. He went to Simon Fraser University in Burnaby. During that time, he also worked with former Coquitlam Cheetahs track and field coach Percy Perry on developing his running. Bret was drafted in the 4th round, 25th overall by the Lions in the 1997 CFL Draft. Anderson was key to the BC Lions's 2000 Grey Cup win. From 2001 to 2003, he caught 66 passes and had 4 touchdowns as a backup. He played only 5 games in 2004 before retiring to become a firefighter. In 2005, he came back and recorded his longest kick ever on October 16, 2005 against the Montreal Alouettes. The kick was 91 yards long. Anderson got his second Grey Cup ring in 2006. CFL West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. There were also two now-defunct teams from the mid 1990s United States expansion of the CFL who played in the West Division. Leonard Deshawn Humphries (born June 19, 1970) is a former American football defensive back who played one season with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). Northern Arizona University (NAU) is a public research university based in Flagstaff, Arizona. Kelly Lochbaum
Kelly Lochbaum (born April 3, 1973, White Rock, British Columbia) is a former Canadian Football League linebacker for the BC Lions. He is currently a real estate agent in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Early years Lochbaum attended W. J. Mouat Secondary School in Abbotsford, and as a senior, in 1991, was named the School's Athlete of the Year. He went on to play for the Abbotsford Air Force of the Canadian Junior Football League before attending Butte Junior College in alifornia and then transferring to Northern Arizona University. Professional career Lochbaum was drafted by the Lions in 1997 and played in 10 games that year, recording 55 tackles and 15 special teams tackles. But for a one-year stint for the Calgary Stampeders in 2001, Lochbaum played for the Lions his entire ten-year career and was considered a stand-out special teams player.
