1996–97 Hibernian F.C. Season
Season 1996–97 was difficult for Hibernian F.C., Hibs, as the club finished ninth in the Scottish Football League Premier Division, Premier Division and only avoided relegation to the Scottish Football League First Division, First Division by winning a playoff against Airdrieonians F.C. (1878), Airdrie. There was also disappointment in the cup competitions, as the club were beaten by Celtic F.C., Celtic in the Scottish Cup, and Rangers F.C., Rangers in the Scottish League Cup, League Cup. Manager (football), Manager Alex Miller was sacked in late September and replaced temporarily by Jocky Scott, before Jim Duffy (footballer), Jim Duffy took charge.
