1996 MTV Europe Music Awards
The 1996 MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony was hosted by former Take That member Robbie Williams and held at Alexandra Palace in London, England, on 14 November 1996. One special note was that MTV executives notified the band Metallica that expletives were prohibited during their live TV performance and they were not allowed to use pyro. The band was upset by this so the band disregarded performing their scheduled single " King Nothing" and played the non-TV friendly songs "Last Caress" and " So What?", songs that contain numerous expletives, and reference rape, murder and bestiality, respectively. The result was the performance and any references to Metallica during the ceremony have been removed from future broadcasts of the ceremony. Alexandra Palace
Alexandra Palace is a Grade II listed entertainment and sports venue in London, situated between Wood Green and Muswell Hill in the London Borough of Haringey. It is built on the site of Tottenham Wood and the later Tottenham Wood Farm. Originally built by John Johnson and Alfred Meeson, it opened in 1873 but following a fire two weeks after its opening, was rebuilt by Johnson. Intended as "The People's Palace" and often referred to as "Ally Pally", its purpose was to serve as a public centre of recreation, education and entertainment; North London's counterpart to the Crystal Palace in South London. At first a private venture, in 1900, the owners planned to sell it and Alexandra Park for development. A group of neighbouring local authorities managed to acquire it. Oasis (band)
Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. Originally known as the Rain, the group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals, tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums). Joan Osborne

"Disco 2000" is a song by British band Pulp, released on the band's 1995 album, '' Different Class''. Featuring a disco-inspired musical performance, the song was based on Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker's childhood memories of his friend Deborah Bone, who he had "fancied" in his youth but could never impress. "Disco 2000" was released as a single on 27 November 1995, the third from ''Different Class''. The single reached number seven in the UK and charted in several others. The single release was accompanied by a music video directed by Pedro Romhanyi, which was based on the story told on the single's sleeve artwork. Pulp are an English rock band formed in Sheffield in 1978.
