1996 King Hassan II International Cup Tournament
The 1996 King Hassan II International Cup Tournament was the first edition of this international football competition. It took place on 11 and 12 December 1996 in Morocco. The host nation Morocco, Croatia, Nigeria and Czech Republic participated in the tournament, and all matches took place at the Stade Mohamed V, home of the Moroccan clubs Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablanca. The tournament was played in a knock out cup format, with only four games played (two semifinals, a final and a third place match). The inaugural tournament was won by Croatia after prevailing over the Czech Republic in the penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw. Salaheddine Bassir ( ar, صلاح الدين بصير; born 5 September 1972) is a Moroccan former professional association football, footballer who played as a striker (association football), striker. He played for a few clubs, including Raja Casablanca, Al-Hilal FC, Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia) and Deportivo La Coruña in Spain with whom he won la liga and copa del rey. He then played for OSC Lille (France) and Aris Thessaloniki F.C., Aris Thessaloniki (Greece). He retired at the end of 2005 season. Whilst at Lille Bassir scored a goal against Olympiacos F.C., Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League and once against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Europa League. Zvonimir Soldo (born 2 November 1967) is a Croatian football manager and a former player. During his playing career, he mostly played as defensive midfielder. Igor Pamić (born 19 November 1969) is a Croatian former professional footballer and current manager. He made five appearances for the Croatia national team during his playing career. Playing career Club He was born in the village of Žminj in Istria and started his professional career at the club Istra Pula in early 1992. Robert Špehar (born 13 May 1970) is a Croatian football coach and a former international footballer who played as a striker. During his 18 years long senior career he played for Croatian Prva HNL teams NK Zagreb and NK Osijek in three occasions.
