Maxine (singer)
Gonny Buurmeester (born 14 October 1970), known professionally as Maxine, is a Dutch singer. She is known for representing the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996, together with Franklin Brown. Career Born in 1970, Maxine grew up in Rotterdam and later moved to Breda. At the age of fifteen, she started taking singing lessons in Antwerp, Belgium. Her first single was a cover of the song "A Love So Beautiful" by Roy Orbison. In 1996, she entered the ''Nationaal Songfestival'' – the Dutch national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest – together with Franklin Brown. Their entry "De eerste keer" went on to win the competition, giving them the right to represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 held in Oslo, Norway. Franklin Kroonenberg (born 11 March 1961), known professionally as Franklin Brown, is a Dutch singer and voice actor. He is known for representing the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996, together with Maxine, with the song "De eerste keer". The Eurovision Song Contest 1996 was the 41st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 18 May 1996 at the in Oslo, Norway. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (NRK) and presented by Norwegian journalist and television presenter Ingvild Bryn and Norwegian singer Morten Harket, the contest was held in Norway following the country's victory at the with the song "" by Secret Garden. De Eerste Keer
The Netherlands was represented by duo Maxine and Franklin Brown, with the song "De eerste keer", at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Oslo on 18 May. Before Eurovision Nationaal Songfestival 1996 Five acts participated in the Dutch preselection, which consisted of five qualifying rounds, followed by the final on 3 March 1996. Heats Five qualifying heats took place on consecutive evenings between 26 February and 1 March 1996. Each involved one of the selected acts performing three songs, with the televoting winner from each act going forward to the final. Final The final was held on 3 March at the Cinevideo Studio in Almere, hosted by Ivo Niehe. Edsilia Rombley
Edsilia Francisca Rombley (born 13 February 1978) is a Dutch singer and television presenter. She began her career in 1995, as a member of the Dutch girl group Dignity. Rombley began her solo career in 1996, after winning the Dutch talent show ''Soundmixshow'', later winning the ''European Soundmix Show'' as well the following year. In 1998, Rombley won '' Nationaal Songfestival 1998'' and represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 with the song " Hemel en aarde", placing fourth. She later represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song " On Top of the World", but did not qualify for the final. Oleta Adams (born May 4, 1953) is an American singer and pianist. NOS Journaal is the umbrella name for the news broadcasts of the Dutch public broadcaster NOS on radio and television. Jeugdjournaal (; "youth news programme") is a Dutch television news programme produced by the Dutch public service broadcaster NOS for children. The programme has been on air since 1981.
