1996 Dallas Cowboys Season
The 1996 Dallas Cowboys season was the franchise's 37th season in the National Football League (NFL) and was the third year under head coach Barry Switzer. Following their victory in Super Bowl XXX, the Cowboys endured a rough year failing to improve their 12-4 record from 1995 but still reached the playoffs with a 10-6 record. Star receiver Michael Irvin was suspended by the league for the first five games and before the playoffs was accused along with lineman Erik Williams of sexual assault. Controversy also took place when writer Skip Bayless published a scathing account of the Cowboys' 1995 season. Longtime trainer Mike Woicik also left the team after the season following a sideline dispute with coach Barry Switzer although Woicik returned in 2011. Mike Woicik
Mike Woicik (born September 26, 1956) is an American football strength and conditioning coach in the National Football League (NFL). He is tied for the record for third-most Super Bowl rings won (behind Bill Belichick and Tom Brady) with six, winning three with the Dallas Cowboys and three with the New England Patriots. Early life Woicik graduated from Westwood High School in Westwood, Massachusetts before attending Boston College where he earned a bachelor's degree in history. He then went to Springfield College to receive his master's degree in physical education. Coaching career College Woicik began his coaching career as the track coach and weight room coordinator at Springfield from 1978 to 1980. Stepfret Williams III (born June 14, 1973) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals. He played college football at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Early years Williams attended Minden High School, where his father was an assistant football coach. As a senior, he received All-state honors playing defensive back, while also being named an All-district selection at wide receiver, after registering 15 receptions for 350 yards. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. Randall Euralentris Godfrey (born April 6, 1973) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League. Godfrey played college football at the University of Georgia, where he majored in housing and consumer economics. He also played High School Football at Lowndes High School in Valdosta Georgia. Kavika Charles Pittman (born October 9, 1974) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and Carolina Panthers.
