1996 Belarusian First League
1996 Belarusian First League was the sixth season of 2nd level football championship in Belarus. It started in April and ended in November 1996. Team changes from 1995 season Winners of 1995 Belarusian First League ( Naftan-Devon Novopolotsk) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by the lowest-placed team of 1995 Premier League (FC Bobruisk). Khimvolokno Grodno, who finished 15th, relegated to the Second League, but were disbanded before the start of 1996 season. They were replaced by best teams of 1995 Second League ( Maxim-Orsha and Stroitel Bereza). Stroitel Bereza, who finished only second in their Second League group, were promoted instead of MPKC-2 Minsk (who were ineligible for promotion as a farm club). FC Bobruisk dissolved shortly after the end 1995 season. No other club was accepted to replace them and the league was left once again with 15 clubs instead of 16. Belarusian First League
The Belarusian First League is the second tier of professional football in Belarus. It was created in 1992, following the Belarusian independence. History and format The typical format of the league involves 16 clubs playing a double round-robin tournament over 30 matchdays (with the exception of shortened 1992 and 1995 seasons, which were a single round-robin tournaments). On several occasions the number of participating teams was smaller (15 or 14), due to last minute withdrawals and no teams available for replacement. In most of the seasons, two best teams are getting promoted to Belarusian Premier League, while two worst teams are relegated Belarusian Second League. FC RUOR Minsk
FC RUOR Minsk was a Belarusian football club based in Minsk. History RUOR Minsk was a student team representing Republican School of Olympic Reserve (''Respublikansoye Uchilishe Olimpiyskogo Reserva''). From 1995 till 1997 the club acted as reserve/feeder team for MPKC Mozyr and played under names MPKC-2 (1995) and MPKC-96 (1996–1997). In 1998 the partnership with MPKC ended and the team continued playing under their original name RUOR Minsk. FC Gomel ( be, ФК Гомель), or FK Homiel, is a Belarusian football club, playing in the city of Gomel. Their home stadium is Central Stadium. History Teams from Gomel (usually city or raion selection or railway-based team ''Lokomotiv'', but not always) played in the Belarusian SSR championships since the early 1920s. The 1997 Belarusian Premier League was the seventh season of top-tier football in Belarus. It started on April 11 and ended on November 11, 1997. MPKC Mozyr were the defending champions.
