The 1995–96 Vysshaya Liga season was the fourth season of the Vysshaya Liga, the second level of ice hockey in Russia. 57 teams participated in the first round. SKA Khabarovsk and Dizelist Penza were promoted to the International Hockey League. Izhstal Izhevsk (russian: Ижсталь Ижевск) is a professional ice hockey team based in Izhevsk, Udmurtia, Russia. They are currently playing in the Supreme Hockey League (VHL), the second highest professional league in Russia. History The team was founded in 1958 and represents the Udmurt Republic and the largest metallurgical enterprise of the Federation of Izhstal OJSC. In the 1958–1959 season, the Trud team representing the Izhstal plant made its debut in the USSR Ice Hockey Championship in class “B” in the 4th zone of the RSFSR. The club, having won the very first Championship of the Republic in 1959–60, and repeating this achievement in 1960–61, 1970–71, 1971–72, 1973–74, 1978–79, 1984–85, 1994–95, 1999–2000, 2000–01, as a ten-time Champion of Udmurtia. Hockey Club Ak Bars (russian: Ак Барс, tt-Cyrl, Ак Барс, en, Snow Leopard), also known as Ak Bars Kazan, is a Russian professional ice hockey team based in Kazan. They are members of the Kharlamov Division of the Kontinental Hockey League. History Founded as Mashstroy Kazan in 1956, the name was later changed to SC Uritskogo Kazan when it entered the Soviet Championship League, Soviet Class B league in 1958. It was promoted to Soviet Championship League, Soviet Class A2, where it gained promotion to the top tier of Soviet hockey. SKA St
Ska (; ) is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. It combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. Ska is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the off beat. Severstal Cherepovets
Hockey Club Severstal is a professional ice hockey team based in Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast, Russia. They are members of the Tarasov Division in the Kontinental Hockey League. History Founded in 1956, the club was originally known as Stroitel (Builder) Cherepovets. The name was changed to Metallurg (Metallurgist) Cherepovets in 1959. During the Soviet times, Metallurg played in the low and mid-level divisions of the ice hockey championship. But since the 1990s, not without the financial support of its parent company Severstal (Northsteel), the club joined the ranks of the major professional teams starting with the first season of the then newly established International Hockey League.
