The Slovenian PrvaLiga ( sl, Prva slovenska nogometna liga, ), currently named Prva liga Telemach due to sponsorship reasons, also known by the abbreviation 1. SNL, is the top level of the Football in Slovenia, Slovenian football league system. Contested by ten clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Slovenian Second League (2. SNL). Seasons typically run from July to May with each team playing 36 matches. The competition was founded in 1991 after Slovenia became an independent country. From 1920 until the end of the 1990–91 season, the Slovenian Republic League was a lower division within the Yugoslav league system. The league is governed by the Football Association of Slovenia. NK Celje, Celje and NK Maribor, Maribor are the only two founding clubs that have never been relegated from the league since its foundation in 1991. NK Rudar Velenje
Nogometni klub Rudar Velenje ( en, Rudar Velenje Football Club), commonly referred to as NK Rudar Velenje or simply Rudar Velenje, is a Slovenian football club from Velenje which competes in the Slovenian Second League. History The club was founded in August 1948. At first they played in local MNZ Celje league, until they qualified for the Slovenian Republic League in 1953. Two years later, on 3 July 1955, Rudar's home stadium Ob Jezeru was opened and the club moved to its current home. After the short crisis the club returned to the Slovenian league in 1962. For the 1974–75 season the club hired a professional coach Živko Stakič and became Slovenian champions in 1977. Rudar therefore qualified for the Yugoslav Second League, where they played until 1982. Eternal Derby Of Slovenian Football (1962–2004)
The Eternal derby of Slovenian football, simply known as the Eternal derby ( sl, Večni derbi) or Slovenian derby ( sl, Slovenski derbi) was a football rivalry between NK Maribor and NK Olimpija, which was dissolved in 2005. In 2005, a new club under the name of NK Bežigrad was founded and later changed its name to NK Olimpija Ljubljana. Because most of the fans that supported the dissolved Olimpija started to support Bežigrad, the continuation of the rivalry is considered by most Slovenian media and fans as the matches between Maribor and the new Olimpija Ljubljana, established in 2005 as NK Bežigrad. The new club consider themselves as the spiritual continuation of the dissolved club, however, legally, the current Olimpija Ljubljana is a distinct and separate club as treated by the Football Association of Slovenia. Prevalje
Prevalje (; German: ''Prävali'') is a settlement in northern Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Prevalje. It lies in the traditional Slovenian province of Carinthia. Prevalje lies in a valley where the Meža River emerges from a narrow gorge, full of fluvioglacial sediments. To the north the settlement is bounded by the Strojna, Stražišče, and Dolga Brda hills. To the south are ''Navrski vrh'' () and ''Riflov vrh'' (). History The area around Prevalje was settled in prehistoric times, attested by archeological finds which include a bronze axe of the Hallstatt culture. In 1860, approximately 50 Roman marble slabs were found in the riverbed below today's cellulose and cardboard factory at Paloma in Zagrad. The stones belonged to a large tomb on the Roman road from Celeia to Virunum. At the nearby Brančurnik pub, a Roman sarcophagus known as the Brančurnik Bench ( sl, Brančurnikova klop) can be seen. Lendava
Lendava (; formerly ''Dolnja Lendava'', in older sources also ''Dolenja Lendava''; hu, Lendva, formerly ''Alsólendva''; german: Lindau, formerly ''Unter-Limbach'') is a town in Slovenia in the region of Prekmurje. It is the seat of the Municipality of Lendava. It is close to the border crossing with Hungary at Dolga Vas–Rédics, and Hungarian is one of the official languages of the municipality, along with Slovene. The town is the centre of the Hungarian minority in Slovenia. It is also known for the monumental theater and Hungarian Community Centre designed by the architect Imre Makovecz. Lendava Sports Park ( sl, Športni park Lendava) is a multi-use stadium in Lendava, Slovenia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of NK Nafta 1903. The stadium, initially built in 1946, was completely rebuilt in 2006 and has a capacity of 2,000 seats. The stadium has a UEFA licence for international matches and is used as one of the main venues for the Slovenian women's national team. Novica Nikčević
Novica Nikčević (born 7 October 1972) is a Slovenian retired footballer who played as a forward. He is currently the assistant coach of Darko Milanič at Slovan Bratislava. Playing career Nikčević played for a number of Slovenian clubs throughout his career. He was Slovenian PrvaLiga top scorer in the 1998–99 season with 17 goals. Between 1999 and 2000, he played for the Belgian club KSC Lokeren. He also played with NK Istra in the Croatian First League. Coaching career After retiring as a player, he became a football coach. In 2007, he was appointed the sporting director of ND Gorica where he linked up with manager Darko Milanič. He later became assistant manager at FC Koper in July 2012. Nogometni klub Nafta Lendava ( en, Nafta Lendava Football Club), commonly referred to as NK Nafta Lendava or simply Nafta, was a Slovenian Association football, football club which played in the town of Lendava.
