1995–96 In Armenian Football
1995–96 in Armenian football was the fourth season of independent football after the split-up from the Soviet Union. It was the first of two seasons in Armenia that were different from the others. Including the 1996–97 season these were the only winter competitions, while all other Armenian seasons were summer competitions. The Armenian Premier League for 1995–96 consisted of 12 teams of which the lowest ranked team would relegate to the Armenian First League. The eleventh ranked team would face the second ranked team from the First League in a promotion/relegation play-off. Premier League * Homenetmen Yerevan changed their name into FC Pyunik. * Yerazank FC disbanded and yielded its place to another Artsakh Republic-based club from Stepanakert, FC Karabakh. Flag Of Armenia
The national flag of Armenia (), also known as the Tricolour (), consists of three horizontal bands of equal width, red on the top, blue in the middle, and orange on the bottom. The Armenian Supreme Soviet adopted the current flag on 24 August 1990. On 15 June 2006, the Law on the National Flag of Armenia, governing its usage, was passed by the Azgayin Zhoghov, National Assembly of Armenia. FC Banants
Football Club Urartu (, translated ''Futbolayin Akumb Urartu''), commonly known as Urartu, is an Armenian professional football team based in the capital Yerevan that currently plays in the Armenian Premier League. The club won the Armenian Cup four times, in 1992, 2007, 2016, and 2023. In 2013–2014, they won the Armenian Premier League for the first time in their history. In early 2016, the Russia-based Armenian businessman Dzhevan Cheloyants became a co-owner of the club after purchasing the major part of the club shares. The club was known as FC Banants until 1 August 2019, when it was officially renamed FC Urartu. FC Lori
Lori FC () was an Armenian football club based in Vanadzor, Lori Province. Originally founded in 1936, Lori has participated in the domestic football competition of Soviet Armenia. After retiring from professional football in 2002, the club was revived in 2017 winning the 2017–18 Armenian First League competition. History The club participated in the first ever Armenian football competition after the split-up from the Soviet Union. After the regular competition, they did not qualify for the championship stage, but were forced to play in the relegation stage. Here they finished in the seventh position, which forced them to play in the Armenian First League (second level) for the 1993 season. In that season they finished first in their group (the league was split up into two groups) which gave them promotion to the Armenian Premier League. FC Lernagorts Kapan
FC Lernagorts Kapan (), is a defunct Armenian football club from Kapan, Syunik Province. History Lernagorts Kapan was founded in 1963 during the Soviet period. After the independence of Armenia, the club participated in the first Armenian football competition after the split-up from the Soviet Union under the name Syunik Kapan. After the regular competition, they qualified for the championship stage, where they finished in 6th position, thus being qualified for the highest level in the 1993 season. However, they withdrew before the start of the season. Since then they have been up and down between the two divisions of the Armenian football league system. Arthur Manukyan (; born July 4, 1985) is an Armenian director and producer, best known for producing and directing music videos of Armenian singers. He also directed dozens of television projects and events. Biography Arthur Manukyan was born on July 4, 1985, in Vagharshapat, Armenia. He finished Middle School in 2002 during which he was also attending to classes in Yerevan Dancing Art State College. He studied film directing in the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography (at the studio of Ruben Gevorgyants) from 2002 to 2008. Arthur Petrosyan
Artur Petrosyan (; born 17 December 1971) is an Armenian football coach and a former midfielder. He is the manager of Swiss club FC Thalwil. Playing career Petrosyan was the all-time leading scorer for the Armenia national team, having scored 11 goals, and had participated in 69 international matches since his debut in the national team's first game in a home friendly match against Moldova on 14 October 1992. Henrikh Mkhitaryan overtook Petrosyan as Armenia's all-time scorer in 2013. Managerial career Petrosyan worked as youth coach of FC Zürich, the last club he played for as a professional. Tigran Yesayan
Tigran Yesayan (, born 2 June 1972) is an Armenian football former player and coach. He played striker for the Armenia national team and for several Armenian Premier League clubs. Club career Tigran Yesayan began playing football in 1990 for Zoravana, which competed in the second minor league Soviet First League. Since 1992, Zoravana moved directly to the Armenian Premier League, in which the club finished bottom of the league and had its place relegated to the Armenian First League. However, after the season, Yesayan moved to Zvartnots Echmiadzin. After the end of the season, Yesayan again moved to Dinamo Yerevan, which played in the Armenian Premier League. Araks Ararat FC
Araks Ararat FC (), is Armenian association football, football club from the town of Ararat, Armenia, Ararat, Ararat Province. Club history The club was founded in 1960 as FC Ararat to represent the town of Ararat, Armenia, Ararat. With the independence of Armenia, the Ararat Cement Factory took over FC Ararat in 1993 and the club was renamed FC Tsement Ararat. They played in the Armenian Premier League and won two titles, the first in 1998 as Tsement and the 2nd in 2000 as Araks Ararat. The following year, Tsement yielded the championship to FC Shirak by two points and ended up on the third spot behind FC Ararat Yerevan, Ararat Yerevan. FC Shirak
Football Club Shirak (), commonly known as Shirak, is an Armenia, Armenian professional sports club based in Gyumri. Shirak is known for its professional association football, football team which is one of the oldest football clubs in Armenia, having been created in 1958. The club is the only team that participated in all seasons of the Armenian Premier League since its creation in 1992 in Armenian football, 1992 until 2020–21 Armenian Premier League, 2021.
