1995–96 In Argentine Football
1995–96 was the first season in which the Argentine Primera implemented the 3-points-for-a-win system. Vélez Sársfield were double champions, winning both the Apertura and Clausura tournaments. Claudio Caniggia
Claudio Paul Caniggia (; born 9 January 1967) is an Argentine former professional footballer who played as forward or winger. Caniggia played 50 times for the Argentina national team. He appeared in three World Cups, and was a member of both rival clubs River Plate and Boca Juniors. At the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Caniggia scored two goals to help Argentina reach the final but was suspended for the final against West Germany. Caniggia also scored two goals at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in a first-round match against Nigeria. Martín Palermo (; born 7 November 1973) is an Argentine football manager and former player who played as a striker. He is the current manager of Platense. Palermo played for Boca Juniors and the Argentina national team. Ariel Maximiliano López (born 5 April 1974 in Lanús) is a former Argentine football player. López played for Club Atlético Lanús Club Atlético Quilmes and San Lorenzo in his native country. He was transferred to the Argentine giant River Plate but the transaction was cancelled for a supposed knee injury. In 1996, he was the top scorer in the Clausura tournament. López has also played for RCD Mallorca and Hércules CF in Spain, as well as Genoa C.F.C. in Italy. Whilst at Mallorca he helped them to the 1999 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final, for which he was an unused substitute. José Luis Calderón (born October 24, 1970) is an Argentine former football striker. He played for 17 years between 1989 and 2006 without winning a trophy, but since then, between the ages of 36 and 39 he won four major championships with three teams. Club Atlético Banfield is an Argentine sports club based in the Banfield district of Greater Buenos Aires. It was founded on 21 January 1896, by the British–origin inhabitants of that city (mostly English, and some Scots and Irish).
