The 1995 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Birmingham, UK on 7–12 March. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Surya Bonaly
Surya Varuna Claudine Bonaly (born 15 December 1973) is a French-born retired competitive figure skater. She is a three-time World silver medalist (1993–1995), a five-time European champion (1991–1995), the 1991 World Junior Champion, and a nine-time French national champion (1989–1997). Bonaly is the only Olympic figure skater to land a backflip on one blade; she performed it at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Early life Surya Varuna Claudine Bonaly was born in Nice, France, on 15 December 1973. She was initially named Claudine and placed in an orphanage by her birth mother. Scott Davis (figure Skater)
Scott Davis (born January 29, 1972) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time (1993–94) U.S. national champion and represented the United States at the 1994 Winter Olympics, where he placed 8th. Career Davis began his career when he won the U.S. junior national title during the 1989–90 season and began competing on the senior level nationally the following season. In the 1992–93 season, Davis won silver at 1992 Skate America and 1992 Skate Canada International. He went on to win his first senior national title at the 1993 U.S. Championships and was assigned to his first senior World Championships where he placed sixth. In 1993–94, Davis won silver at the 1993 Nations Cup and bronze at Piruetten. Viacheslav Zagorodniuk
Vyacheslav Vasylovych Zahorodnyuk ( uk, В'ячеслав Васильович Загороднюк, born 11 August 1972) is a Ukrainian former competitive figure skater. He represented the USSR until its dissolution and then represented Ukraine. He is the 1994 World bronze medalist, 1996 European champion, and 1989 World Junior champion. Personal life Zahorodnyuk was born on 11 August 1972 in Odessa, Ukrainian SSR. He married Ukrainian ice dancer Olga Mudrak in 1994. They have a son, Maxim (born August 2005), and a daughter, Alina (born in February 2009). Career Zahorodnyuk was initially coached by Galina Zmievskaya. Éric Millot
Éric Millot (12 December 1968) is a French former competitive figure skater. He is the 1993 European bronze medalist, the 1995–96 Champions Series Final bronze medalist, and a four-time (1990–93) French national champion. He represented France at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where he placed 15th, and at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, where he placed 7th. With wife Valerie and young daughter Marie, the Millot family moved to California (Palm Springs and then San Diego) in the late 1990s. Alexei Urmanov
Alexei Yevgenyevich Urmanov (; born 17 November 1973) is a Russian figure skating coach and former competitor. He is the 1994 Olympic champion, the 1993 World bronze medalist, the 1997 European champion, the 1995–96 Champions Series Final champion, a four-time Russian national champion, and the 1992 Soviet national champion. Personal life Urmanov was born on 17 November 1973 in Leningrad, Soviet Union. In 2001, his partner, Viktoria, gave birth to twins, Ivan and Andrei. The couple married in 2004. Pascal Lavanchy (born 20 July 1968) is a French former ice dancer. With partner Sophie Moniotte, he is a two-time World medalist ( 1994 silver, 1995 bronze) and two-time European medalist ( 1995 silver, 1997 bronze). Skating career Lavanchy began skating in Morzine. Petri Kokko (figure Skater)
Petri Kokko (born 21 February 1966) is a Finnish former competitive ice dancer. He competed with Susanna Rahkamo, his wife. With Rahkamo, he is the 1995 European champion, 1995 World silver medalist, and competed in the Winter Olympics twice. Skating career Initially interested in hockey, Kokko began figure skating at age 14 to improve his skating skills. His first partner was Virpi Kunnas. Todd Sand (born October 30, 1963) is an American pair skater. With his wife Jenni Meno, he is the 1998 World silver medalist, a two-time World bronze medalist (1995, 1996), and a three-time U.S. national champion (1994–96). Jenni Meno
Jenni N. Meno (born November 10, 1970 in Westlake, Ohio) is an American former competitive pair skater. With her husband Todd Sand, she is the 1998 World silver medalist, a two-time World bronze medalist (1995, 1996), and a three-time U.S. national champion (1994–96). Career Meno first partnered with Scott Wendland and won two medals at the U.S. Championships. She began skating with her future husband Todd Sand in April 1992. They competed in two Olympics and won three national titles and three medals at the World Figure Skating Championships.
