1995 Saban General Election
Island council elections were held in the Netherlands Antilles on 7 April (Bonaire and Sint Maarten) and 12 May 1995 (Curaçao, Saba and Sint Eustatius) to elect the members of the island councils of its five island territories. The election was won by the Bonaire Democratic Party (5 seats) in Bonaire, the Party for the Restructured Antilles (8 seats) in Curaçao, the Saba Democratic Labour Movement (3 seats) in Saba, the Democratic Party Statia (3 seats) in Sint Eustatius, and the Democratic Party (7 seats) in Sint Maarten. Results Bonaire Curaçao Saba Sint Eustatius Sint Maarten The Democratic Party and the Sint Maarten Patriotic Alliance both won five seats, with the other seat in the 11-seat island council going to the Serious Alternative People's Party. An island council was the governing body of an island territory, an administrative level of the Netherlands Antilles until its dissolution. Amigoe
The ''Amigoe'' is a Dutch-language daily newspaper with editorials in Curaçao and whose audience are the peoples of the former Netherlands Antilles, specifically Curaçao and Aruba. The newspaper is one of the most widely read dailies in Aruba. The newspaper was founded on December 1883 under the name of ''Amigoe di Curaçao'' by the Dominican Order. It began its circulation in Aruba in 1884. The edition used to be weekly until 1935, when it started to be published two times each week. In 1941, the newspaper became a daily newspaper (except Sunday) issued by the Catholic Church. The online version of the newspaper was founded on January 8, 1998. ''Sint'' (released on DVD as ''Saint'' in Europe and ''Saint Nick'' in the United States) is a 2010 Dutch dark comedy horror film about Sinterklaas, the character on which the Anglo-Saxon Santa Claus is based. Democratic Party (Curaçao)
The Democratic Party ( pap, Partido Democraat, nl, Democratische Partij) is a liberal party in Curaçao founded in 1944. The party has participated in elections for the Estates of the Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao constituency) and the Island Council of Curaçao until the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010, obtaining a single seat in the island council in 2007. By obtaining 1019 registrations of support, the party qualified (a minimum of 743 was required) for participation in the Curaçao General Election of 2012 on 19 October in a combined list with Laboral named Partido Democrat Laboral, where it obtained 1.2% of the votes but failed to obtain any seats.
