1995 Oakland Raiders Season
The Oakland Raiders season was the franchise's 26th season in the National Football League, the 36th overall, and their first back in Oakland since 1981. The Raiders announced their return to Oakland on June 25, 1995, and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors approved it the next month. While the Raiders raced out to an impressive 8–2 start, a number of key injuries (including the loss of starting quarterback Jeff Hostetler) caused them to lose their final six games and miss the playoffs. The Raiders, for the first time since 1962 (and joining the NFL), finished at the bottom of their division, the AFC West, ending a streak of 32 consecutive non-last place finishes. The American Football Conference – Western Division or AFC West is one of the four divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The division comprises the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers. The division has sent teams to the Super Bowl eighteen times beginning with Super Bowl I when the Chiefs played the Green Bay Packers. Napoleon Kaufman
Napoleon "Nip" Kaufman (born June 7, 1973) is a former American football player and currently an ordained minister and head football coach at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California. He is a former NFL running back, playing for the Oakland Raiders for the entirety of his professional football career. Early life Kaufman was born in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in Lompoc, California, 55 miles west-northwest of Santa Barbara. At Lompoc High School he was one of the greatest high school running backs in California prep history. Matthew A. Dyson (born August 1, 1972) is an American football coach and a former player. He is currently the head coach of the George Mason University football team. He played college football as an outside linebacker for the University of Michigan from 1991 to 1994. Michael Anthony Morton (born March 28, 1972) is a National Football League (NFL) official and former American football linebacker. Morton played college football for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels and went on to play for four teams in a seven-year NFL career. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL Draft. Joe Aska (born July 14, 1972) is a former American football running back who played for the Oakland Raiders and the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL), as well as the New York/New Jersey Hitmen of the XFL.
