Norwegian Television
Television in Norway was Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, introduced in 1954, but the first television program was only shown in 1958, and regular broadcasts did not start until 1960. Like Denmark, Norway had only one television channel until the 1980s. Some 40% of the population have Cable television, cable TV, and 30% have Satellite television, satellite TV. Another 30% have terrestrial television only. In Norway, all advertising containing political messages and advertising aimed at children are prohibited. Channels such as TV3 (Norway), TV3 are allowed to broadcast commercial breaks, as these channels are being broadcast via satellite from the United Kingdom. Eurovision Song Contest 1995
The Eurovision Song Contest 1995 was the 40th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 13 May 1995 at the Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (RTÉ) and presented by Irish journalist and television presenter Mary Kennedy, the contest was held in Ireland following the country's victory at the with the song "Rock 'n' Roll Kids" by Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan. It was the third consecutive contest to be held in Ireland, and the second consecutive edition to be held in the Point Theatre in Dublin. Nocturne (Secret Garden Song)
"Nocturne" is a song performed in Norwegian by Secret Garden and the winning entry for at the Eurovision Song Contest 1995. It was the second time Norway won the contest, after it had won in with Bobbysocks! song "La det swinge". For their performance at the contest, the Secret Garden duo of Fionnuala Sherry and Rolf Løvland featured three guest musicians: Norwegian vocalist Gunnhild Tvinnereim, Hans Fredrik Jacobsen on penny whistle, and Swedish nyckelharpist Åsa Jinder. Eurovision victory The song was performed fifth on the night, following 's Davorin Popović with "Dvadeset prvi vijek" and preceding 's Philip Kirkorov with " Kolibelnaya dlya vulkana". Secret Garden (duo)
Secret Garden is an Irish-Norwegian band specialised in new instrumental music, led by the duo consisting of Irish violinist and singer Fionnuala Sherry and Norwegian composer, arranger and pianist Rolf Løvland. Heartbreak High
''Heartbreak High'' is an Australian television program created by Michael Jenkins and Ben Gannon that ran from 1994 to 1996 on Network Ten and 1997 to 1999 on the ABC, for seven series. It was also partially funded from 1996 by BBC2, with some episodes airing in the UK ahead of their Australian release. The drama has been described as more gritty and fast-paced than many of its contemporaries, and follows the lives of students and staff at a multicultural Sydney high school. The first five series were set at the fictional Hartley High and filmed in Maroubra Bay High School in Maroubra, New South Wales in the Eastern Suburbs. Series six and seven were set at the fictional Hartley Heights, and filmed in Warriewood in the Northern Beaches. TV Norge
TVNorge (literally "TVNorway"; originally abbreviated TVN, now just abbreviated N in the logos) is a Norwegian television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA. History TVNorge went on the air on 5 December 1988 and was the first advertising-supported Norwegian channel. The channel was started with 50 000 NOK. The first broadcast was a live variety show from Oslo Cabaret with Swedish singer Lill-Babs and Norwegian pop group Tomboy as musical guests. Originally TVNorge broadcast via satellite and cable, later they have affiliated several local television broadcasters. The local broadcasters generally were allowed the 17.30-18.30 timeslot for local programming, along with a second slot from 19.30-20.30. The rest of the time was assigned to TVNorge's own schedule. The channel was styled as TVN until 1995, following a rebrand that year, it became TVNorge. Odd Grythe
Odd Horn Grythe (14 November 1918 – 7 February 1995) was a Norwegian radio and television personality. Personal life He was born in Lillehammer as a son of a travelling salesman. He had four older siblings. From 1955 to 1958 he was married to Kirsten Sørlie. In March 1962 he married Ada Haug. With his first wife he had the daughter Hilde Grythe, who married Terje Tønnesen. Career He finished his secondary education in his hometown, and then moved to Oslo. He worked different office jobs, and also for a short time at Centralteatret. During the Second World War he was a part of the Norwegian resistance movement in Lillehammer. He was arrested on 23 March 1945 and was imprisoned in Grini concentration camp from 13 April 1945 until the war's end. After the war, Grythe was a journalist and subeditor in '' Dagningen'' from 1946 to 1950. He was also a city council member for the Labour Party.
