Malley Sports Centre
Centre intercommunal de glace de Malley (abbreviation CIG de Malley or CIGM) was an indoor arena located in Lausanne, Switzerland. It was primarily used for ice hockey, and was the home arena of the HC Lausanne from 1984 to 2017. It was demolished in April 2017 to be replaced by the Vaudoise Aréna which opened in September 2019. A temporary ice rink, Malley 2.0, was opened during the interim and is one of the venues for the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics. History The CIG de Malley opened in 1984 and had a capacity of 9,000 people, although because most of the arena consisted of Terrace (stadium), terraces a maximum of 12,000 people could attend the games. The arena hosted the Suproleague, European champions cup final on April 2, 1987, in which Olimpia Milano, Tracer Milano prevailed over Maccabi Tel Aviv B.C., Maccabi Tel Aviv 71-69 in front of 10,500 spectators. Kim Dong-moon
Kim Dong-moon (Hangul: 김동문, Hanja: 金東文; born 22 September 1975) is a retired South Korean badminton player who won major titles between the mid-1990s and the mid-2000s (decade), and widely regarded as one of finest men's doubles and mixed doubles players in badminton history. Kim captured the world attention when he unexpectedly winning the gold medal in the mixed doubles event with Gil Young-ah at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. On his path to greatness, he won gold medals both in men's and mixed doubles at the 1999 World Championships. Kim and Ra Kyung-min, partnered up to become one of the strongest mixed doubles pairings of that time. They did not drop a single match from April to November in 2003. Yap Kim Hock
Yap Kim Hock (; born on 2 August 1970) is a retired badminton player from Malaysia. He is currently the doubles head coach of the Singapore national badminton team. Career He had played with different pairs such as Tan Kim Her (1989–1994) and Cheah Soon Kit (1995–2000). Yap represented Malaysia and competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the badminton men's doubles event with Cheah Soon Kit. At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, they had a bye in the first round and defeated Denny Kantono and Antonius Ariantho of Indonesia in semifinals. Cheah Soon Kit
Datuk Cheah Soon Kit (Current name: / Birth name: ) (born 9 January 1968) is a former Malaysian badminton player and coach. Career Known for his amazing jumping smash, Soon Kit was one of the top doubles stars in the world in his heyday. He won the Olympic silver with Yap Kim Hock in Atlanta 1996. Before combining with Kim Hock, Soon Kit’s partner was Soo Beng Kiang and they won numerous international titles, including the 1992 and 1994 World Cup. He was also a vital member of the Malaysian squad that won the Thomas Cup for the first time in 25 years, in a 3-2 victory over Indonesia at the Stadium Negara in 1992. Thomas Haubro Lund (born 2 August 1968) is a retired badminton player from Denmark who affiliate with Kastrup Magleby club. Career Lund was one of the world's leading doubles specialists of the 1990s, particularly in mixed doubles. He was a silver medalist in both men's and mixed doubles at the 1991 IBF World Championships. In 1993 and 1995 he won consecutive gold medals in mixed doubles at the IBF World Championships, the first with Sweden's Catrine Bengtsson and the second with his compatriot Marlene Thomsen. Jon Holst-Christensen (born 16 June 1968) is a retired male badminton player from Denmark. Ricky Subagja
Ricky Subagja (born 27 January 1971) is a former Indonesian badminton player. He was rated among the greatest doubles specialists in the sport's history. Career In 1993 the fast moving, faster hitting Subagja won men's doubles at the then biennial IBF World Championships in Birmingham, England with fellow countryman Rudy Gunawan. However, Subagja's regular partner for most of the 90s was another fellow countryman, the equally fast and hard-hitting Rexy Mainaky, and they formed the most successful team of the decade. Rexy Mainaky
Rexy Ronald Mainaky (born 9 March 1968) is a former men's doubles badminton world champion from Indonesia who is often simply known as Rexy. He won the men's doubles Olympic gold medal in 1996 with Ricky Subagja. As of October 2021, he was appointed as the new deputy coaching director of the Badminton Association of Malaysia. Bang Soo-hyun (Hangul: 방수현; Hanja: 方銖賢; born 13 September 1972) is a former badminton player from South Korea who was one of the world's leading women's singles players of the 1990s. She was a contemporary and rival of Indonesia's Susi Susanti and China's Ye Zhaoying and recorded wins over both in major badminton tournaments.
