1994–95 Úrvalsdeild Kvenna (basketball)
The 1994–1995 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 38th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna (basketball), Úrvalsdeild kvenna, then known as 1. deild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league in Iceland. The season started on 1 October 1994 and ended on 2 April 1995. Breiðablik women's basketball, Breiðablik won its first title by defeating Keflavík women's basketball, Keflavík 3–0 in the Finals. Competition format The participating teams played each opponent three times for a total of 24 games. The top four teams qualified for the championship playoffs while none were relegated to 1. deild kvenna (basketball), Division I due to vacance berths. Njarðvík Women's Basketball
Njarðvík women's basketball, commonly known as Njarðvík, is the women's basketball department of Ungmennafélag Njarðvíkur, based in the town of Reykjanesbær in Iceland. It won the national championship and the basketball cup in 2012. As of the 2020–2021 season, the team plays in the second-tier 1. deild kvenna. Guard (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Björg Hafsteinsdóttir
Björg Hafsteinsdóttir (born 22 October 1969) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She played 12 seasons in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, winning the Icelandic championship seven times and the Icelandic Basketball Cup eight times. In 2001 she was named one of the twelve players of the Icelandic basketball team of the 20th century by the Icelandic Basketball Federation. She was a six time Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First Team selection and was named the league's Player of the Year in 1990. She spent the vast majority of her career with Keflavík, outside of a few months in the fall of 1992 when she played for KR. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. They traditionally play close to the basket in the low post. Centers are valued for their ability to protect their own goal from high-percentage close attempts on defense, while scoring and rebounding with high efficiency on offense.
