The 1994–95 Gamma Ethniki was the 12th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. Doxa Vyronas and Kastoria were crowned champions in ''Southern'' and ''Northern'' Group respectively, thus winning promotion to Beta Ethniki. Panelefsiniakos and Trikala also won promotion as a runners-up of the groups. Acharnaikos, Egaleo, Messolonghi, Sparti, Kilkisiakos, Pandramaikos, Iraklis Ptolemaida and Acheron Kanallaki were relegated to Delta Ethniki. The Gamma Ethniki ( el, Γ΄ Εθνική Ερασιτεχνική Κατηγορία, C National Amateur Division) is the third highest football league in Greece. History The Gamma Ethniki began in 1965 as an amateur championship, while in 1983 it was changed to professional. Although not literally national (it is divided into ''North'' and ''South'' groups), Football League 2 is considered as a national division. On 3 August 2010, it was announced that the division had been renamed ''Football League 2''. From season 2013–14, the football League 2 is merged by fourth division championship (Delta Ethniki) and renamed again Gamma Ethniki. The new third division will be held in six groups, with the clubs divided basis of geographical criteria, while it will return in an amateur form. Eordaikos 2007 (Εορδαϊκός 2007) (former Ptolemaida-Lignitorikhi) is a football club based in Ptolemaida, Greece. History The club named Eordaikos 2007 is following the history of Eordaikos which is one of the better known football clubs in Western Macedonia. Eordaikos was created in 1978 from the merge of two Ptolemaida teams, the team of ''Aris Ptolemaidas'' with former presence in the second division and ''Ptolemaios'', playing in the second and third division of the Greek tier and having successful runs in the Greek cup. In 1996, the club due to serious financial problems merged with Iraklis Ptolemaidas and renamed to PAS Ptolemaidas. PAS Ptolemaida merged then with Anagenisi Ptolemaidas to form A.S. Ptolemaida . Aiolikos Football Club () is a Greek association football club, based in Mytilene. They currently play on the 6th group of Gamma Ethniki. History The club was established in 1975 after a merger of two local teams – Atlantas and Apollon. The name Aiolikos was inspired by the Aeolians, the name by which the Greek inhabitants of Lesbos and nearby Aeolis, Anatolia, have been known since antiquity. Incidentally, there was also a Greek football club called Aiolikos that was based in Smyrna ( Izmir), around 1890, which would often play matches against teams of visiting British sailors. With the Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922), many of the Greek inhabitants of the region emigrated to Lesbos, taking their sporting traditions and clubs with them.
