1994–95 Aston Villa F.C. Season
The 1994-95 season was Aston Villa's 120th professional season, their 84th season in the top flight and their 7th consecutive season in the top tier of English football (the third in the Premier League). Two seasons earlier, Aston Villa narrowly missed out on the league title. The season after that, they dipped to 10th place in the league but still had success as League Cup winners. But the decline continued into 1994–95 and Ron Atkinson paid with his job in November. Within days, former Villa favourite Brian Little was back at the club. Little managed to keep Villa clear of the drop. Before the season was over, a new era was already in the making at Villa Park. Aston Villa F
Aston is an area of inner Birmingham, England. Located immediately to the north-east of Central Birmingham, Aston constitutes a ward within the metropolitan authority. It is approximately 1.5 miles from Birmingham City Centre. History Aston was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086 as "Estone", having a mill, a priest and therefore probably a church, woodland and ploughland. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul was built in medieval times to replace an earlier church. The body of the church was rebuilt by J. A. Chatwin during the period 1879 to 1890; the 15th century tower and spire, which was partly rebuilt in 1776, being the only survivors of the medieval building. Mark Draper
Mark Andrew Draper (born 11 November 1970) is an English football coach and former professional footballer. As a player, he was a midfielder from 1988 to 2003, notably in the Premier League for Leicester City, Aston Villa and Southampton. He also played in Spain for Rayo Vallecano and in the Football League with Notts County. He represented England at under-21 level. In 2009, he briefly came out of retirement for non-league side Dunkirk. Since retiring Draper had a spell as kit man for former side Notts County but has since moved into coaching and runs a football training centre for children in Nottingham. Ian Taylor (footballer, Born 1968)
Ian Kenneth Taylor (born 4 June 1968) is an English former professional footballer and sports television pundit. He played as a midfielder and best known for his time at Aston Villa. A midfielder, he had a fifteen-year career in the Football League and Premier League, scoring 103 goals in 577 league and cup competitions. He made the move from non-league Moor Green to Port Vale in 1992. With Vale he lifted the Football League Trophy in 1993. His impressive performances earned him a place on the Second Division PFA Team of the Year in 1992–93 & 1993–94, as well as the club's Player of the Year award in 1993. He made a million pound move to Sheffield Wednesday in June 1994, and he was sold on for another million to Aston Villa later in the year. Alan Wright
Alan Geoffrey Wright (born 28 September 1971) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. He was a left back who has played over 750 league and cup games for eight clubs, including an eight-year spell in the Premier League for Aston Villa. He has also played for Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United plus he has had loan spells at Derby County, Leeds United, Cardiff City, Doncaster Rovers and Nottingham Forest. He finished his career with spells at Cheltenham Town and Fleetwood Town. He was capped twice by the England U21 team in 1992. John Fashanu
John Fashanu (, born 18 September 1962) is an English television presenter and former professional footballer. In his former career, he was a centre-forward from 1978 until 1995, most notably in an eight-year spell at Wimbledon in which he won the FA Cup in 1988 and scored over 100 goals in all competitions. He was also capped twice at senior level by England. Over his entire playing career, he also played for Norwich City, Miramar Rangers, Lincoln City, Crystal Palace, Millwall and Aston Villa. Dalian Atkinson
Dalian Robert Atkinson (21 March 1968 – 15 August 2016) was an English professional footballer who played as a striker. During his club football career, he played in England for Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa and Manchester City, winning the Football League Cup at Villa in 1994. He also played for many teams abroad; in Spain for Real Sociedad, in France for Metz, in Turkey for Fenerbahçe, in Saudi Arabia for Al-Ittihad, and in South Korea for Daejeon Citizen and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. Atkinson died on 15 August 2016. He was near his father's house in Trench, Telford, where he had grown up. Officers of West Mercia Police, who had responded to a call, fired a taser at him and one officer kicked him in the head. Atkinson went into cardiac arrest. Shaun Teale
Shaun Teale (born 10 March 1964 in Southport) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. He played as a defender from 1983 until 2004 and was notably part of the League Cup winning team of Aston Villa in 1994.He also played in the Football League for AFC Bournemouth, Tranmere Rovers, Preston North End and Carlisle United, the Scottish Premier League for Motherwell. Earl Barrett
Earl Delisser Barrett (born 28 April 1967) is an English football coach and former footballer who played as a defender, featuring in the Premier League for Oldham Athletic, Aston Villa, Everton and Sheffield Wednesday and in the Football League for Chester City and Sheffield United. He played mainly at right back though could also adapt to a central defensive role. He also gained three England caps while playing at Oldham and Aston Villa. Kevin Richardson (footballer)
Kevin Richardson (born 4 December 1962) is an English football coach and former footballer who is under-18's coach at Premier League side Newcastle United. As a player he played as a midfielder in England's top flight for Everton and Arsenal before a spell in La Liga with Real Sociedad. He later spent time in the newly-formed Premier League with Aston Villa, Coventry City and Southampton. He also played in the Football League for Watford, Barnsley and Blackpool. Garry Parker (born 7 September 1965) is an English association football, football coach and former professional player who is an assistant coach for AC Omonia, Omonia. Raymond James Houghton (born 9 January 1962) is a former professional footballer and current sports analyst and commentator with RTÉ Sport. As a player, he was a midfielder, notably playing for Liverpool where he won two First Division titles and a two FA Cups before switching to Aston Villa ahead of the inaugural Premier League season. He also briefly played top flight football for both West Ham United and Crystal Palace with spells in the Football League for Fulham, Oxford United and Reading, before retiring with non-league Stevenage Borough.
