The 1994 UEFA Cup Final was a two-legged match that took place on 26 April 1994 and 11 May 1994 at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna and San Siro in Milan between Inter Milan of Italy and Austria Salzburg of Austria. 1993–94 UEFA Cup
The 1993–94 UEFA Cup was won by Internazionale on aggregate over Austria Salzburg. Juventus were the defending champions, but got eliminated in the quarter-finals by Cagliari. Eastern Europe arrangements Political revolutions in Eastern Europe imposed some UEFA decisions. Yugoslavia was banned under UN embargo: its places were divided between former USSR, Romania, and former Czechoslovakia. An agreement between UEFA, Russia and Ukraine recognized Russia as heir of the three Soviet places, while Ukraine divided with Slovenia the heritage of disbanded East Germany. Albania was declared unsafe and it was substituted by a third club from Scotland. Poland was disqualified after its football scandal, and its places went to Hungary and Bulgaria. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. Heribert Weber
Heribert Weber (born 28 June 1955 in Pöls) is a retired Austrian football defender and later a football manager. He currently works as Sky Austria's main pundit and analyst for their coverage of the Austrian Football Bundesliga, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. Club career Born in Styria, Weber started his professional career at Sturm Graz and joined Vienna giants Rapid Wien after the World Cup in 1978. He played a major part in the most successful of Rapid teams in the 1980s, claiming the League crown four times, winning 4 domestic cups and most prominently losing the UEFA Cup Winners Cup Final in 1985 against Everton. He skippered Rapid in 1981 and from 1986 through 1989. He was voted in Rapid's Team of the Century in 1999. Otto Konrad (born 1 November 1964 in Graz) is a retired Austrian football goalkeeper. Club career Konrad started his professional career with local outfit Sturm Graz, where he stayed 11 years before enjoying a successful period at Austria Salzburg. He played in both legs of the 1994 UEFA Cup Final which they lost to Inter Milan. Nicola Berti
Nicola Berti (; born 14 April 1967) is an Italian former footballer, who played as a midfielder. Berti's career spanned three decades, during which he played for several clubs: after beginning his career with Parma, he played with Fiorentina, and in particular Inter Milan, where he became an important figure in the club's midfield, winning a Serie A title and three UEFA Cups. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals " away from home" wins. This is sometimes expressed by saying that away goals "count double" in the event of a tie, though in practice the team with more away goals is simply recorded as the victor, rather than having additional or 'double' goals added to their total. Karlsruher SC is a German association football club, based in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg that currently plays in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of German football. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds.
