1994 Montreal Expos Season
The 1994 Montreal Expos season was the 26th season of the franchise. They had the best record in Major League Baseball (74-40), when the 1994–95 Major League Baseball strike ended the season and the team's postseason aspirations. From June 1 forward, Montreal transformed into the dominant club in the league, going 46−18 until the strike. In turn, they also produced the most successful season in franchise history in terms of winning percentage (.649). Five Expos represented the National League at the All-Star Game held in Pittsburgh, including Moisés Alou, who had the game-winning hit for the National League. Rodger Brulotte
Rodger Brulotte (Born January 4, 1947 in Montreal) is a Major League Baseball broadcaster. His career with the Montreal Expos organization started in 1969, working in sales and marketing. He contributed to the creation of the Youppi mascot. In 1984, he was hired by CKAC to serve as Color commentator alongside Jacques Doucet. In 1990, he moved to RDS where he called Expos games with his colleague Denis Casavant until the team's demise in 2004. He is famous for the line "Bonsoir, elle est partie!" (Good night, it is gone) which he said when the Expos hit a home run. Brulotte and Casavant continued to call baseball games on RDS, though coverage is now limited. He now calls Toronto Blue Jays games on TVA Sports alongside Doucet. He writes an article entitled “Tout partout” in Le Journal de Montréal. Delino DeShields
Delino Lamont DeShields (born January 15, 1969), also nicknamed "Bop", is an American former professional baseball second baseman and current first base coach for the Cincinnati Reds. He played for 13 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Montreal Expos, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, and Chicago Cubs between 1990 and 2002. He managed the Louisville Bats in the Cincinnati Reds organization from 2012–2017. Moisés Rojas-Alou Beltré (; ; born July 3, 1966) is a Dominican-American former outfielder in Major League Baseball who played for 17 seasons in the National League. In 1,942 career games, Alou had a batting average of .303 with 2,134 hits, 421 doubles, 332 home runs, and 1,287 runs batted in. Alou is one of the few baseball players who batted without the use of batting gloves. Instead, Moisés Alou revealed that during the baseball season, he'd urinate on his hands to toughen them up. The 1994 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 65th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the American League (AL) and National League (NL), the two leagues comprising Major League Baseball. The game was held on July 12, 1994, at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League—tying the Indians for the all-time record of most All-Star Games hosted by one franchise, as the Pirates had also hosted in 1944, 1959, and 1974 (and would again in 2006).
