1994 Japanese Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 1994 Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix was the third round of the 1994 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on 24 April 1994 at the Suzuka Circuit. 500cc race report This race was most notable for the four-way battle for the win, home hero Norick Abe bravely fighting and leading the race until he crashed out of contention and Kevin Schwantz' recovery drive to victory. Valentino Rossi claimed that this was one of his favourite races due to Norifumi's fighting spirit and Rossi assumed the nickname Rossifumi in the early stages of his career. Luca Cadalora has taken pole position on the Saturday with a time of 2:08.336. Wildcard rider Toshihiko Honma qualified in second place and Kevin Schwantz lines up third. Àlex Crivillé Tapias (born 4 March 1970) is a Spanish former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. In 1992 he became the first Spaniard to win a 500cc Grand Prix and, in 1999 he became the first Spaniard to win the 500cc World Championship. Biography Crivillé was born in Barcelona, Catalonia. He falsified his age in order to start racing at 14 in 1985, the minimum age for a license being 15 in Spain. In that year he won the Criterium Solo Moto, a national series for 75 cc Honda streetbikes. 80cc career Derbi (1987–1988) ;1987 Crivillé started his international career in the now-defunct 80cc World Championship with the Derbi team. Daryl Beattie
Daryl Beattie (born 26 September 1970 in Charleville, Queensland, Australia) is a former Grand Prix solo motorcycle road racer. Motorsport career Beattie posted several good results at the beginning of the 1992 500cc Grand Prix season then teamed up with Wayne Gardner to win the prestigious Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race in Japan. His performance earned him a place on the Honda factory team alongside fellow Australian Mick Doohan for the 1993 season. He won his first Grand Prix that year at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheimring and finished the season in a promising third place behind Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Rainey. After the season, he was inexplicably released by the Honda team. Beattie had a lackluster season in 1994 on a Team Roberts Marlboro Yamaha.
