Mike Martin (baseball Coach)
Michael David Martin Sr. (born February 12, 1944) is the former head baseball coach of the Florida State Seminoles baseball team. Martin is the all-time winningest coach in NCAA Division I college baseball. Upon the completion of his career, Martin had compiled a record of 2,029 wins, 736 losses and four ties over 40 seasons of collegiate coaching. On May 5, 2018, Martin reached 1,976 career wins, surpassing legendary coach Augie Garrido. Martin, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, began his collegiate playing career at Wingate Junior College where he was a Junior College All-American. He then transferred to Florida State, where he played from 1965 to 1966 and graduated in 1966. During his years as the center fielder at Florida State, Martin hit .354, and earned all-District honors in his senior season and played in the 1965 College World Series. Lincoln "Link" Jarrett (born January 26, 1972) is an American college baseball coach and former shortstop, who is the current head baseball coach of the Florida State Seminoles. Jarrett played college baseball at Florida State University from 1991 to 1994 for coach Mike Martin. He was the head coach at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 2013 to 2019 and University of Notre Dame from 2020 to 2022. Playing career Jarrett was a four-year starter at shortstop for the Florida State Seminoles, appearing in three College World Series. He holds the All-Time NCAA Assists record of 802. He was an NCBWA All-American in 1993 and 1994, and also earned All-ACC honors. In 1993, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Gene Hooks Stadium was a baseball stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was the primary home field of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons baseball program from 1981 through 2008. History The stadium was in use by March 1981, under its original name of Layton Field, and was dedicated on April 18, 1981. On April 23, 1988, it was renamed after former Wake Forest University athletic director Gene Hooks. Wake Forest's final game at the stadium was a 9–4 win over the Duke Blue Devils on May 11, 2008. The ballpark was part of a complex sitting north of Faculty Drive (home plate / first base side) and a short distance east of Wingate Road (third base side).
