1993–94 Sacramento Kings Season
The 1993–94 NBA season was the Kings' 45th season in the National Basketball Association, and ninth season in Sacramento. The Kings had the seventh pick in the 1993 NBA draft, and selected Bobby Hurley out of Duke University. The Kings started the season winning three of their first four games, but then continued to struggle, losing 16 of their next 18 games leading to an awful 5–17 start, including eight straight losses. In December, things got worse for the Kings as Hurley was involved in a life-threatening car accident, and was out for the remainder of the season after only playing just 19 games, averaging 7.1 points and 6.1 assists per game. With Hurley out, Spud Webb would return to the lineup as starting point guard, after playing off the bench as backup for Hurley. 1993–94 Boston Celtics Season
The 1993–94 NBA season was the 48th season for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association. Tragedy struck the team prior to the season when star guard, and team captain Reggie Lewis died of cardiac arrest during practice at the age of 27 on July 27, 1993; Lewis previously collapsed during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Charlotte Hornets in the 1993 NBA Playoffs. Croatian rookie forward Dino Radja, who was drafted by the Celtics in the 1989 NBA draft, would finally make his debut in the NBA. 1993–94 Atlanta Hawks Season
The 1993–94 NBA season was the Hawks' 45th season in the National Basketball Association, and 26th season in Atlanta. In the off-season, Chicago Bulls All-Star guard Michael Jordan shocked the NBA by announcing his retirement. This meant that various teams in the league had an opportunity to contend for a championship. The Hawks hired Hall of Famer Lenny Wilkens as their new head coach. Wilkens was a star guard for the franchise when it was based in St. Louis in the 1960s. He was quickly moving up the all-time coaching wins list after successful runs with the Seattle SuperSonics and Cleveland Cavaliers. Wilkens employed a defensive system which benefited several members of the team. The team also signed free agents Craig Ehlo, and Andrew Lang during the off-season. Mike Schuler
Michael Harold Schuler (September 22, 1940 – June 28, 2022) was an American basketball coach in both college and the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers from 1986 to 1992 and compiled a win–loss record of 179–159. He won the NBA Coach of the Year Award in 1987, becoming the second rookie coach to be conferred the honor. Early life Schuler was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on September 22, 1940. He attended Portsmouth High School in his hometown. Eddie Jordan (basketball)
Edward Montgomery Jordan (born January 29, 1955) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He formerly served as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards, and Sacramento Kings in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was also head coach for three seasons at Rutgers University, where he played basketball but left without receiving a degree. Mike Bratz
Michael Louis Bratz (born October 17, 1955) is a retired American basketball player and former the assistant general manager for the Sacramento Kings. He played professionally in the NBA for the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, and Sacramento Kings. Early life and career Bratz was born in Lompoc, California and graduated from Lompoc High School. He played college basketball at Allan Hancock College and Stanford University. After being selected by the Phoenix Suns in the 1977 NBA Draft, and made his NBA debut on October 18, 1977 with the Suns. Bratz played nine seasons in the NBA. Alex Holcombe
Alex Bernard Holcombe (born November 22, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for Kashmere High School in Houston, Texas before playing college basketball for the Baylor Bears. Holcombe was selected by the Sacramento Kings as the 44th overall pick in the 1993 NBA draft but never played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Evers Allen Burns (born August 24, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the 2nd round (31st overall) of the 1993 NBA draft. A 6'8" forward from the University of Maryland, Burns played in only 22 games as a member of the Kings during the 1993–94 NBA season, averaging 2.4 points per game. 1994–95 Phoenix Suns Season
The 1994–95 NBA season was the 27th season for the Phoenix Suns in the National Basketball Association. During the off-season, the Suns signed free agents, All-Star forward Danny Manning, Wayman Tisdale, and Danny Schayes. The team was led by Paul Westphal, in his third year as head coach of the Suns. The Suns held the league's best record at 38–10 before the All-Star break, and finished the regular season with 59 wins and 23 losses, the first time in the franchise's history they had ended the season with 55 or more wins for three consecutive seasons. All home games were played at America West Arena. Walter Ander "The Wizard" Williams (born April 16, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player. A sharpshooting 6'8" forward/guard, Williams attended school at the University of Maryland from 1988 to 1992, and is credited by many for resurrecting the school's basketball program which was going through very difficult times. College career Born in Washington, D.C., Williams began his Maryland career only two years after the death of star Len Bias and the ensuing scandal that cost Lefty Driesell his job as coach.
