1993–94 FC Basel Season
The Fussball Club Basel 1893 1993–94 season was their 101st season since the club's foundation. Peter Epting was the club's chairman for the second period. FC Basel played their home games in the St. Jakob Stadium. Following their relegation in the 1987–88 season this was their sixth season in the second tier of Swiss football. Overview Pre-season Claude Andrey was appointed as new first team trainer. He came from Sion where he had been trainer for the previous six months and he came as replacement for Friedel Rausch who had only been trainer with the club for the previous season. A number of players left the club during the off-season. Last season's top scorer André Sitek moved on to score his goals for Locarno, another goal scorer Frédéric Chassot returned to Neuchâtel Xamax after his loan period had expired and defender Dirk Lellek transferred to VfB Oldenburg. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Formed in 1893, the club has been Swiss national champions 20 times, Swiss Cup winners 13 times, and Swiss League Cup winners once. Basel have competed in European competitions every season since 1999–2000. VfB Oldenburg is a German association football club based in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony. In the 2022–23 season, they play in the 3. Liga, the third level of football in Germany. Mario "Lupo" Cantaluppi (born 11 April 1974) is a Swiss former professional footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. Club career Born in Schlieren, Switzerland, Mario Cantaluppi started his professional career with Grasshopper Club Zürich in 1990 and won the 1990–91 Nationaliga A in his debut season. In 1993, he dropped down a division to sign for FC Basel who were playing in the Nationalliga B at the time. He signed the contract and joined the team under head-coach Claude Andrey. NK Belišće is a Croatian football club based in the town of Belišće. History NK Belišće was founded in 1919 under the name BŠK (Belišćanski športski klub). Andre Meier
Andre Meier (born 3 March 1965) is a Swiss former footballer who played as a midfielder during the 1980s and 1990s. Football career Meier began his career with his local club FC Baden, joining their first team during their 1984–85 season and at the end of the season Meier won promotion with them. Meier played the 1985–86 Nationalliga A season with Baden, appearing in 27 of the 30 games, but at the end of the season they suffered relegation. Meier signed a two-year contract with FC Schaffhausen during the summer of 1996 and played with them for two seasons. He then had a short spell at FC Aarau in the first tier of Swiss football, before he returned to Schaffhausen for another three seasons. In 1992 he moved to FC Chiasso, who were fighting against relegation from the Nationalliga A. However, they were unsuccessful in their attempt and so Meier moved on. Stefan Huber (born 14 June 1966) is a Swiss former footballer who played as a goalkeeper during the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. Club career Huber played his youth football by local club FC Unterstrass. He then moved to Grasshopper Club and began his professional career under with them in 1984 under head-coach Miroslav Blažević. Four years later he then moved to Lausanne Sports under manager Radu Nunweiller. Patrick Rahmen (born 3 April 1969) is a Swiss football coach and former player who last worked as head coach for Basel. He played as midfielder or forward. Club career Patrick Rahmen learned his football skill playing with Nordstern Basel and then in the FC Basel youth system.
