Sudirman Cup
The Sudirman Cup is an international badminton mixed team competition contested by member countries of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every two years since the inaugural tournament in 1989. It used to be held at the same venue for the World Championships in the same year until the International Badminton Federation (now the BWF) decided to split the two tournaments starting from 2003. There are five matches in every Sudirman Cup tie which consists of men and women's singles, men and women's doubles and mixed doubles. The cup is named after Dick Sudirman, a former Indonesian badminton player and the founder of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI). The current champion is China, which won its 12th title at the 2021 tournament in Finland. Lim Xiaoqing (; born 15 August 1967 as Sun Xiaoqing; ) is a retired badminton player originally from China who later represented Sweden. Nong Qunhua
Nong Qunhua (; born July 20, 1966) is a former international badminton player from China who specialized in women's doubles. Career Nong was one of the world's leading women's doubles players of the early 1990s, winning the IBF World Championships in 1991 with Guan Weizhen and in 1993 with Zhou Lei. With Guan, Nong also won the 1990 Asian Games, was a silver medalist at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, and was a runner-up at the 1992 All England Championships. Chung So-young
Chung So-young (; born 20 February 1967) is a former badminton player from South Korea. She was a gold medalist at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 in the women's doubles together with Hwang Hye-young, and was inducted into the Badminton Hall of Fame in 2003. Career Chung started to representing South Korea in the international tournament in November 1984. She won a bronze medal at the 1987 World Championships in the women's doubles with Kim Yun-ja. Kim Moon-soo (born 29 December 1963) is a former badminton player from South Korea. Career He has won 2 titles in the World Badminton Championships in men's doubles. He also won a gold medal at the Summer Olympics and 3 All England Open Badminton Championships in men's doubles. Ye Zhaoying (; born 7 May 1974) is a retired badminton player from Hangzhou, China. Officially ranked as the number one women's singles player in the world for the first time in December 1995, she lost and regained that ranking several times during her career. Gil Young-ah
Gil Young-ah (born April 11, 1970 in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do) is a former female badminton player from South Korea. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, she won the bronze medal in the women's doubles together with Shim Eun-jung. Four years later, at the Atlanta, Georgia, Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics, Olympics, she won the gold medal in the mixed doubles together with Kim Dong-moon and the silver medal in the women's doubles together with Jang Hye-ock. Park Joo-bong (Hangul: 박주봉; Hanja: 朴柱奉; born 5 December 1964) is a former badminton player from South Korea who excelled from the early 1980s through the mid-1990s. Career Park is one of the most successful players ever in the World Badminton Championships with 5 titles, 2 of them in men's doubles and 3 in mixed doubles.
