Peter Senior
Peter Albert Charles Senior (born 31 July 1959) is an Australian professional golfer who has won more than twenty tournaments around the world. Senior has competed mainly on the PGA Tour of Australasia, where he has had the most success and won the Order of Merit on four occasions, and the European Tour. He has also played occasionally on the Japan Golf Tour and the United States-based PGA Tour. Senior has represented Australia in international competitions several times, and was a member of the International Team at the first two stagings of the Presidents Cup. He has also represented Australia twice at the World Cup. Personal life Senior was born in Singapore. He lives in Hope Island, Queensland with his wife June, whom he married in 1984. They have three children: Krystlle, Jasmine and Mitchell. In his spare time Peter enjoys fishing, reading and spending time with his family. Heineken Australian Open
The Australian Open, owned and run by Golf Australia, is the oldest and most prestigious golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. The Open was first played in 1904 and takes place toward the end of each year. The winner of the tournament receives the ''Stonehaven Cup'', presented by Lord Stonehaven, the Governor-General of Australia from 1925 to 1930. It was first presented in 1930. Status The Australian Open is the "flagship tournament" of the PGA Tour of Australasia, and until 2022 had a special status in the Official World Golf Ranking's points system. Ian Baker-Finch
Ian Michael Baker-Finch (born 24 October 1960) is an Australian professional golfer and sports commentator, who is best known for winning The Open Championship in 1991. Early years Baker-Finch was born in Nambour, Queensland, Australia. He grew up in the same Queensland "neighbourhood" as fellow professional golfers Greg Norman and Wayne Grady. Professional golf career Baker-Finch turned professional in 1979. He credits Jack Nicklaus as his greatest influence, saying that he based his game on Nicklaus' book, ''Golf My Way''. Baker-Finch began his professional career on the PGA Tour of Australasia, winning his first professional tournament, the New Zealand Open, in 1983. Ford Australian PGA Championship
The Australian PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. It is the home tournament of the Australian PGA. Since 2000 it has been held in the South East Queensland region. The tournament was part of the OneAsia Tour from 2009 to 2014, and from 2015 to 2019 it was co-sanctioned with the European Tour. The championship started in 1929, when the Australian Golf Union decided to hold the Australian Professional Championship during their annual championship meeting. The leading 16 professionals in the Open championship qualified for the match play event, with four rounds of matches over 36 holes. The winner, Rufus Stewart, received the ''Joe Kirkwood Cup'', donated by Australian golfer Joe Kirkwood Sr. After World War II the PGA of Australia took over the organisation of the championship. Eagle Blue Open
The South Australian Open was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia and the Nationwide Tour. History The event started in 1933 as the South Australian Close Championship. In 1950 it was renamed the South Australian Open, although it was only in 1952 that it was opened up to players from outside the state. In the late 1960s, there was no sponsor for the tournament. Therefore "only local club professionals competed." In 1975 there was a similar problem. The South Australian Brewing Company did not renew its sponsorship. Due to economic trouble in the country no other companies were willing to sponsor the event. The event did not take place that year. Lucas Parsons
Lucas John Kendall Parsons (born 4 October 1969) is an Australian former professional golfer. Parsons was born in Orange, New South Wales. As an amateur, he won both the Australian and New Zealand Amateur Championships in 1991. He turned professional the following year and joined the PGA Tour of Australasia. Parsons won seven tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia, including the New Zealand Open in 1995. He played one unsuccessful season on the United States-based PGA Tour in 1996. He also played for a time on the European Tour after graduating from the second tier Challenge Tour in 1999, having won two tournaments and finished 10th on the money list. His best season-end ranking on the European Tour Order of Merit was 37th in 2000, the year he won the Greg Norman Holden International, also a PGA Tour of Australasia event. Victorian Open
The Vic Open is an annual golf tournament held in Australia. It was founded in 1957 and is the Victoria state open championship for men. It is run by Golf Victoria and is a Golf Australia national ranking event. The event is held concurrently with the Women's Victorian Open and offers equal prize pool for the two events. The tournament's tag line is: "Men and women. On the same course. At the same time. For equal prize money." The men and women play on the same course at the same time in alternating groups. History The first Victorian Open was played at Riversdale in 1957, replacing the Victorian Close Championship which had been first held in 1948. Dunhill Malaysian Masters
The Malaysian Masters was a golf tournament that was held in Malaysia from 1988 until 1992. In 1991 and 1992, it was part of the PGA Tour of Australasia schedule as the tour sought to expand into Southeast Asia, and as a result carried world ranking points in those years. The tournament was founded in 1988 and had the richest purse in the region for an event outside of the Asia Golf Circuit, with hopes that it would become one of the biggest tournaments in Asia. In 1993, having been part of the Australasian Tour for two seasons, the tournament was cancelled as the tour worked towards closer ties with the Asia Golf Circuit. Anthony Painter (born 11 June 1965) is an Australian professional golfer. Painter was born in Milton, New South Wales. He turned professional in 1985. Painter played on the PGA Tour of Australasia, winning twice: at the 1993 Meru Valley Perak Masters and the 1996 Schweppes Coolum Classic. He played on the Nationwide Tour from 1998 to 2002 and 2004 to 2006. He won once, at the 1998 Nike Ozarks Open.
