1993 Nottinghamshire County Council Election
The 1993 Nottinghamshire County Council election was held on Thursday, 6 May 1993. The whole council of eighty-eight members was up for election. The Labour Party retained control of the Council, increasing its number of councillors to fifty-eight. The Conservatives suffered a net loss of ten seats and won twenty-four councillors. The Liberal Democrats won six seats. Results by division Each electoral division returned one county councillor. The candidate elected to the council in each electoral division is shown in the table below. "Unopposed" indicates that the councillor was elected unopposed. 1989 Nottinghamshire County Council Election
The 1989 Nottinghamshire County Council election was held on Thursday, 4 May 1989. The whole council of eighty-eight members was up for election and the result was that the Labour Party retained control of the Council, winning fifty seats. The Conservatives won thirty-four councillors and the Social and Liberal Democrats won four seats. Minor boundary changes took place for this election, with the parish of Broadholme being transferred to Lincolnshire and the division of Newstead was enlarged by the addition of Ravenshead which had been transferred to Gedling from Newark and Sherwood in 1987. 1997 Nottinghamshire County Council Election
The 1997 Nottinghamshire County Council election was held on Thursday, 1 May 1997. The whole council was up for election and the result was the Labour Party retaining its control of the council. This was the first County Council election not to include the City of Nottingham, which would become a unitary authority in 1998 and therefore no longer a part of the administrative county of Nottinghamshire. The boundaries of the electoral divisions remained the same however the loss of Nottingham meant that there were 25 fewer seats. Nottinghamshire County Council
Nottinghamshire County Council is the upper-tier local authority for the non-metropolitan county of Nottinghamshire in England. It consists of 66 county councillors, elected from 56 electoral divisions every four years. The most recent election was held in 2021. The county council is based at County Hall in West Bridgford. The council does not have jurisdiction over Nottingham, which is a unitary authority governed by Nottingham City Council. Responsibilities The council is responsible for public services such as education, transport, planning, social care, libraries, trading standards and waste management. Nottinghamshire County Council elections are held every four years. Nottinghamshire County Council is the upper-tier authority for the non-metropolitan county of Nottinghamshire in England. Since the last boundary changes in 2017, 66 county councillors have been elected from 56 electoral divisions. Political control Nottinghamshire County Council was first created in 1889.
