The 1993 Las Vegas Bowl was played December 17, 1993, at the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl in Whitney, Nevada. Background Ball State, of the Mid-American Conference ran the table and won their second conference title in four years, while riding into this bowl game with a four game winning streak. The Aggies of the Big West Conference had won five straight games after starting the season 1–5 to win a share of the conference title with Southwestern Louisiana. This was their first bowl appearance since 1961. Anthony Calvillo
Anthony Calvillo (born August 23, 1972) is the quarterbacks coach for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and is a former professional Canadian football quarterback. He was professional football's all-time passing yards leader from 2011 to 2020, and is first in all-time CFL passing yards. In his career, he passed for 79,816 yards and is one of nine professional quarterbacks to have completed over 400 touchdown passes (the others being Brett Favre, Warren Moon, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers). His reign ended in 2020 when Brees surpassed him. Calvillo won three Grey Cup championships in 2002, 2009, and 2010, and named Grey Cup Most Valuable Player in 2002. Paul Schudel (born July 2, 1944) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Ball State University from 1985 to 1994 and at Central Connecticut State University from 2001 to 2003, compiling a career college football record of 70–69–4. The 1993–94 NCAA football bowl games concluded the 1993 NCAA Division I-A football season. In the second year of the Bowl Coalition era, the 1994 Orange Bowl was designated as the national championship game, pitting Florida State (11–1), ranked first in the AP Poll and third in the Coaches Poll, against Nebraska (11–0), ranked second in the AP Poll and first in the Coaches Poll. Undefeated and untied West Virginia was ranked second in the Coaches Poll but was relegated to the Sugar Bowl after finishing in third in the Bowl Coalition composite rankings. The 2008 International Bowl was played on January 5, 2008, at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The 2012 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game held on December 15, 2012 at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho in the United States. The sixteenth edition of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl began at 2:30 p.m. MST and aired on ESPN. It featured the Toledo Rockets from the Mid-American Conference against the Western Athletic Conference champion Utah State Aggies, and was the final game of the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season for both teams. Mike Neu
Michael David Neu (born December 29, 1970) is an American football coach and former quarterback, who is the current head football coach of the Ball State Cardinals. He played college football at Ball State for Paul Schudel from 1990 to 1993 and played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for one season and the Arena Football League (AFL) for 2 seasons from 1995 to 1997. He then served as the head coach of the af2's Augusta Stallions (2000), the AFL's Carolina Cobras (2001–2002) and the New Orleans VooDoo (2004–2008).
