1993 Hopman Cup
The 1993 Hopman Cup was the fifth edition of the Hopman Cup that was held at the Burswood Entertainment Complex, in Perth, Western Australia. Steffi Graf and Michael Stich of Germany defeated Arantxa Sánchez Vicario and Emilio Sánchez of Spain in the final to win the title. The tournament took place between 2 January through 8 January 1993. Tennis Court
A tennis court is the venue where the sport of tennis is played. It is a firm rectangular surface with a low net stretched across the centre. The same surface can be used to play both doubles and singles matches. A variety of surfaces can be used to create a tennis court, each with its own characteristics which affect the playing style of the game. Wayne Ferreira
Wayne Richard Ferreira (born 15 September 1971) is a South African former professional tennis player and current tennis coach. Career As a junior player, Ferreira was ranked world no. 1 junior doubles player and no. 6 junior singles player. He won the junior doubles title at the US Open in 1989. Ferreira turned professional in 1989. He won his first ATP doubles title in Adelaide in 1991. 1992 was Ferreira's breakthrough year on the tour. He started out by reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open. In June he won his first ATP singles title at Queen's Club, London. His second singles title came just a few weeks later at Schenectady, New York. Andrei Medvedev ( uk, Андрій Медведєв, Andriy Medvedyev; born 31 August 1974) is a Ukrainian former professional tennis player. Medvedev reached the final of the 1999 French Open, the French Open semifinals in 1993, and won four Masters titles during his career, achieving a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in May 1994. Amos Mansdorf
Amos Mansdorf ( he, עמוס מנסדורף; born 20 October 1965) is an Israeli former professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking was World No. 18 (achieved in November 1987), the highest ever for any male Israeli tennis player. His career-high doubles ranking was World No. 67 (May 1986). Early and personal life Mansdorf grew up in Ramat HaSharon, a small city north of Tel Aviv, and is Jewish. All four of his grandparents had emigrated from Poland to Israel in the 1930s. Anna Smashnova ( he, אנה סמשנובה, russian: Анна Смашнова; born July 16, 1976) is a Soviet-born Israeli former tennis player. She retired from professional tour after Wimbledon 2007. Smashnova reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 15 in 2003. She reached 13 finals, and won 12 of them. In addition, she won a junior Grand Slam title, the 1991 French Open girls' singles championship. Early life Smashnova, born in Minsk, is of Russian-Jewish descent. Yasufumi Yamamoto (born 3 May 1971) is a former professional tennis player from Japan. Biography Yamamoto, who comes from Shizuoka, played on the professional tour in the 1990s and featured in seven Davis Cup ties for Japan. Most of his ATP Tour main draw appearances were in his home country, including the Japan Open where he competed in singles on six occasions. Kimiko Date
is a Japanese former professional tennis player. She reached the semifinals of the 1994 Australian Open, the 1995 French Open and the 1996 Wimbledon Championships, and won the Japan Open a record four times. She reached a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in 1995, and retired from professional tennis in November 1996. She returned to tennis nearly 12 years later, announcing an unexpected comeback in April 2008. Wally Masur (; born 13 May 1963) is a tennis coach, television commentator, and former professional tennis player from Sydney, Australia. Nicole Bradtke (née Provis) (born 22 September 1969) is a retired professional tennis player from Australia. Bradtke won three singles and nine doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She reached the semifinals of the 1988 French Open, and won a bronze medal in doubles at the 1992 Summer Olympics, partnering Rachel McQuillan. Manuela Georgieva Maleeva ( bg, Мануела Георгиева Малеева; born 14 February 1967) is a Bulgarian former professional tennis player. She played on the WTA Tour between 1982 and 1994. Through her marriage, Maleeva began representing Switzerland officially from January 1990 until her retirement in February 1994.
