1992–93 Winnipeg Jets Season
The 1992–93 Winnipeg Jets season was the Jets' 21st season, their 14th in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Jets qualified for the playoffs, losing in the first round. Winnipeg was not shut out in any of their regular-season games or playoff games. Offseason On June 20, 1992, the Jets and Chicago Blackhawks made a trade at the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, as the Jets acquired the Blackhawks 17th and 27th overall picks for the Jets 12th and 36th overall picks. With their first round, 17th overall pick at the draft, Winnipeg selected Sergei Bautin from Dynamo Moscow. Bautin, a defenceman, had 1 goal and 4 points in 37 games with Dynamo. Sergei Bautin
Sergei Viktorovich Bautin (11 March 1967 – 31 December 2022) was a Soviet-born ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for the Winnipeg Jets, Detroit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks. Playing career Bautin was drafted in the first round, 17th overall, of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. Bautin ended up playing 130 games for the Jets, scoring 5 goals and 25 assists for 30 points, collecting 176 penalty minutes. He wore the number 3, and was usually paired with fellow Russian Igor Ulanov. On March 8, 1994, Bautin, along with Bob Essensa, was traded to the Detroit Red Wings for Tim Cheveldae and Dallas Drake. After his stint with Detroit, Sergei then signed on as a Free Agent with the San Jose Sharks in 1995. He played the rest of the 1995–96 season with San Jose's IHL affiliate, the Kansas City Blades. 1991–92 NHL Season
The 1991–92 NHL season was the 75th regular season of the National Hockey League. The league expanded to 22 teams with the addition of the expansion San Jose Sharks. For the first time, the Stanley Cup Finals extended into June, with the Pittsburgh Penguins repeating as Stanley Cup champions, winning the best of seven series four games to none against the Chicago Blackhawks. League business This was the first season for the San Jose Sharks, the first expansion team in the NHL since 1979. The birth of the Sharks returned NHL hockey to the San Francisco Bay Area after the California Golden Seals had relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1976. Dan Lambert
Daniel Lambert (born January 12, 1970) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 29 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Quebec Nordiques. He is currently assistant coach of the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League. Early career Lambert grew up in the community of St. Malo, in southeastern Manitoba, and played his minor hockey in St. Malo, Steinbach, and Ste. Anne. He played one season of high school hockey in Warroad, Minnesota, before joining the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League as a 16-year-old in 1986. Midway into his first season with the Broncos, the team bus was involved in a fatal crash that claimed the lives of four Broncos players (Lambert was not on the bus). Quebec Nordiques
The Quebec Nordiques (french: Nordiques de Québec, pronounced in Quebec French, in Canadian English; translated "Quebec City Northmen" or "Northerners") were a professional ice hockey team based in Quebec City. The Nordiques played in the World Hockey Association (1972–1979) and the National Hockey League (1979–1995). Shawn P. Cronin (born August 20, 1963) is a retired American professional ice hockey defenseman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Washington Capitals, Winnipeg Jets, Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks. Cronin was born in Joliet, Illinois and grew up in Flushing, Michigan, graduating from Flushing Senior High School. Playing career Cronin was originally signed as a free agent in 1986 by the Hartford Whalers, although he never played for the parent team. In 1988 he was signed as a free agent by the Washington Capitals. After playing only one game for the Capitals he signed with the Winnipeg Jets. The SM-liiga (marketed as just Liiga from 2013 on), (Finnish for ''League'') colloquially called the Finnish Elite League in English or FM-ligan in Swedish, is the top professional ice hockey league in Finland. It is one of the six founding leagues of the Champions Hockey League and currently allocated five spots - the maximum number - based on success in previous editions. It was created in 1975 to replace the SM-sarja, which was fundamentally an amateur league. The SM-liiga is not directly overseen by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association, but the league and association have an agreement of cooperation. Helsingin Jokerit (English: Jokers or Jesters) are a professional ice hockey team based in Helsinki, Finland. The team won six league championships as a member of the Finnish SM-liiga (1973, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, and 2002). Jokerit plays its home games at Helsinki Halli.
