1992–93 UEFA Champions League First Round
The 1992–93 UEFA Champions League first round was the first stage of the competition proper of the 1992–93 UEFA Champions League, and featured 32 teams. It began on 16 September and ended on 9 October 1992. The 16 winners advanced to the second round. Times are CET/CEST, as listed by UEFA. Teams In total, 32 teams participated in the first round: 28 teams which entered in this round, and 4 winners of the preliminary round. Format Each tie was played over two legs, with each team playing one leg at home. The team that scored more goals on aggregate over the two legs advanced to the next round. If the aggregate score was level, the away goals rule was applied, i.e. the team that scored more goals away from home over the two legs advanced. If away goals were also equal, then extra time was played. 1992–93 UEFA Champions League
The 1992–93 UEFA Champions League was the 38th European Cup, the premier European club football tournament, and the first season with the UEFA Champions League branding (originally adopted only in the group stage). It was the second season of the competition in which the eight second round winners would be split into two groups, with the winner of each one meeting in the final. In addition, a preliminary round was required as this was the first season after the break-up of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia, resulting in many new countries eligible to enter the champions of their own leagues into the competition. Israel and the Faroe Islands were also represented for the first time. Lyngby Boldklub () is a Danish professional football club founded in 1921. It is based at Lyngby Stadion in Kongens Lyngby, Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, a northern suburb of Copenhagen. Union Sportive Luxembourg, usually known as Union Luxembourg, was a football club, based in Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg. It is now a part of Racing FC Union Luxembourg. History Union Luxembourg was formed in 1925 as an amalgam of US Hollerich Bonnevoie and Jeunesse Sportive Verlorenkost. Glentoran Football Club is a professional football club that plays in the NIFL Premiership. The club was founded in 1882. History Early history In 1914, Glentoran won the Vienna Cup, becoming the first United Kingdom team to win a European trophy, although as this competition took place several decades before the formation of UEFA, it is not recognised as such. 1960s George Best watched Glentoran with his grandfather as a youth, but was rejected by the club for being "too small and light".
