Featherstone Rovers
Featherstone Rovers are a professional rugby league club in Featherstone, West Yorkshire, England, who play in the Championship (rugby league), Championship. Featherstone is a former coal mining town with a population of around 16,000 and Rovers are one of the last "small town teams" which were common in rugby league in the early 20th century. The club has produced many junior players who have gone on to play for Super League clubs. Their local rivals are Castleford Tigers, Castleford and Wakefield Trinity, and in the Championship, Halifax R.L.F.C., Halifax. Wayne Taekata is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played for Western Suburbs and the North Sydney Bears in the NSWRL competition. Playing career Taekata made his first grade debut for North Sydney in round 21 of the 1989 NSWRL season against Newcastle.
