1992–93 Portland Trail Blazers Season
The 1992–93 NBA season was the 23rd season for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association. The Trail Blazers entered the season as runners-up in the 1992 NBA Finals, where they lost to the Chicago Bulls in six games. In the off-season, the team signed free agents Rod Strickland, and Mario Elie. The Blazers got off to a fast start winning their first eight games of the season, and held a 31–16 record at the All-Star break. However, Clyde Drexler only played just 49 games due to knee and hamstring injuries. The Blazers finished the season with a 51–31 record, third in the Pacific Division and fourth in the Western Conference. It was their 11th straight trip to the postseason. Terry Porter
Terry Porter (born April 8, 1963) is an American former college basketball coach and former player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was most recently the head men's basketball coach at the University of Portland. A native of Wisconsin, he played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point before being drafted 24th by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1985 NBA draft. In Portland, he played ten seasons with two All-Star Game appearances. Porter spent 17 years in the NBA as a player. Following his retirement as a player in 2002, he began coaching in the league. The TCU Horned Frogs men's basketball team represents Texas Christian University, located in Fort Worth, Texas, in NCAA Division I men's basketball competition. Dave Johnson (basketball)
Dave M. Johnson (born November 16, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player who had a brief career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the early 1990s. Born in Morgan City, Louisiana, Johnson attended Syracuse University, where, as a junior and senior, he developed into a high scoring small forward. Following his senior year, he participated in the now defunct Orlando Classic pre-draft camp/tournament and made the all-tourney team. He had the highest measured vertical leap of all the camp participants (34 inches), was the leading scorer in the tournament (19 points per game) and also won the Slam Dunk Contest. 1993–94 Houston Rockets Season
The 1993–94 NBA season was the Houston Rockets' 27th season in the National Basketball Association, and their 23rd season in Houston. During the off-season, the Rockets acquired Mario Elie from the Portland Trail Blazers. The Rockets went off to a great start, winning their first fifteen games of the season to tie the 1948–49 Washington Capitols for the best unbeaten record to open a season, while also posting a 14–0 record in November, before the Golden State Warriors surpassed it in 2015. After losing to the Atlanta Hawks, 133–111 on the road on December 3, the Rockets won their next seven games as well, falling just one victory shy of tying the 1969–70 Knicks (23–1) for the best record with one defeat in NBA history. The 1993–94 NBA season was the Bullets' 33rd season in the National Basketball Association. The Bullets received the sixth overall pick in the 1993 NBA draft, and selected Calbert Cheaney out of Indiana University, and also selected 7' 7" Romanian center Gheorghe Mureșan with the 30th overall pick. In the off-season, the team acquired former All-Star center Kevin Duckworth from the Portland Trail Blazers, signed free agents Kenny Walker and undrafted rookie guard Mitchell Butler, and released LaBradford Smith to free agency after seven games, as he later on signed with the Sacramento Kings. However, Duckworth never lived up to expectations as he struggled with weight problems, where he weighed up to 340 lbs during the season. 1992–93 San Antonio Spurs Season
The 1992–93 NBA season was the Spurs' 17th season in the National Basketball Association, and 26th season as a franchise. During the off-season, the Spurs acquired Dale Ellis from the Milwaukee Bucks, signed free agents Vinny Del Negro and undrafted rookie guard Lloyd Daniels, and re-signed Avery Johnson after a brief stint with the Houston Rockets. However, prior to the start of the season, Terry Cummings suffered a serious knee injury during a pick-up game, and only played in the final eight games of the season. The 1991–92 NBA season was the 22nd season for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association. In the off-season, the Blazers signed undrafted rookie guard Robert Pack. After losing three of their first four games, the team would quickly recover as they held a 32–14 record at the All-Star break. The Blazers finished their season with a 57–25 record, earning their second straight Pacific Division championship and 10th consecutive trip to the NBA Playoffs.
