1992–93 Huddersfield Town A.F.C. Season
Huddersfield Town's 1992–93 campaign was Town's first season playing in the newly reformed Division 2, following the creation of the breakaway Premier League. Following defeat in the play-offs the previous season, many were hoping for automatic promotion to the new Division 1. But Ian Ross' team had a dreadful start and failed to recover, so they finished in a disappointing 15th place. Things only seemed to improve once ex-manager Mick Buxton was appointed as assistant manager, but Ross left to become Buxton's assistant at Sunderland at the end of the season. Squad at the start of the season Review Following the surprise defeat to Peterborough United, many thought Town would go all the way under Ian Ross, but after 6 games, promotion to Division 1 seemed miles away. Huddersfield Town A
Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized Colne to the south of the town centre which then flows into the Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town. The rivers around the town provided soft water required for textile treatment in large weaving sheds, this made it a prominent mill town with an economic boom in the early part of the Victorian era Industrial Revolution. Neil Parsley Neil Robert Parsley (born 25 April 1966) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender for Witton Albion, Leeds United, Chester City, Huddersfield Town, Doncaster Rovers, West Bromwich Albion and Exeter City. He moved to Albion for £25,000 in September 1993, and went on to make 48 appearances for the club. Graham Lee Mitchell (born 16 February 1968) is an English former professional footballer, who played as a defender. In 2003, Mitchell played in a charity match at Huddersfield Town where ''The Wembley Wizards'' and ''The Town All Stars'' versed each other to raise money for Huddersfield Town, they were in administration at the time. Peter Allan Jackson (born 6 April 1961 in Bradford, England) is a football manager and former footballer. He has previously had two spells as Huddersfield Town manager, whom he helped win the Division Three play-off in 2004, and he has also managed Lincoln City, before taking charge at his former playing club Bradford City in 2011. As a player, Jackson started his career with his hometown club Bradford City, where as the club's youngest ever captain, he lifted the Third Division title in 1985 on the day of the Bradford City stadium fire. Simon Thomas Charlton (born 25 October 1971) is an English football coach, former footballer and radio summariser. As a player, he was a full back who notably played in the Premier League for Southampton, Bolton Wanderers and Norwich City. Michael James Buxton (born 29 May 1943) is a former footballer and football manager in England. He has managed Huddersfield Town, Scunthorpe United and Sunderland. Playing career During his playing career, Buxton played in the Football League for both Burnley and Halifax Town, making a total of 53 professional appearances in nine seasons.
