1992 Wimbledon Championships – Women's Singles
Defending champion Steffi Graf defeated Monica Seles in the final, 6–2, 6–1 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1992 Wimbledon Championships. It was Graf's fourth Wimbledon singles title and eleventh major title overall, and Seles' best career finish at Wimbledon. Seles was attempting to complete the non-calendar year Grand Slam and career Grand Slam, having won the preceding US Open, Australian Open, and French Open in succession. This would also be the only major match Seles would lose in 1992, thus preventing her from completing the Grand Slam. Steffi Graf
Stefanie Maria Graf ( , ; born 14 June 1969) is a German former professional tennis player. Widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, she was ranked world No. 1 for a record 377 weeks and won 22 major singles titles, the second-most since the start of the Open Era in 1968 and the third-most of all-time. In 1988, Graf became the first tennis player to achieve the Golden Slam by winning all four major singles titles and the Olympic gold medal in the same calendar year. Zina Garrison
Zina Lynna Garrison (born November 16, 1963) is an American former professional tennis player. Garrison was the runner-up in singles at the 1990 Wimbledon Championships, a three-time major mixed doubles champion, and an Olympic gold and bronze medalist from the women's doubles and singles events, respectively, at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Garrison reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 on 20 November 1989. Claudia Porwik, born on 14 November 1968, is a former professional tennis player. She played on the WTA Tour from 1986 to 1996 and reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in 1988 and the semifinals in 1990. Larisa Savchenko-Neiland ( uk, Лариса Савченко-Нейланд, lv, Larisa Savčenko-Neilande; née Savchenko; also Larisa Neiland; born 21 July 1966) is a retired tennis player who represented the Soviet Union, Ukraine and Latvia. Li Fang (tennis)
Li Fang (, born 1 January 1973) is a retired female tennis player from China. She is widely regarded as the first professional tennis player from China. Li turned professional in 1990, and won two WTA doubles titles in her career. In singles, Li Fang reached three finals on the WTA tour (Hobart 1995, Makarska and Pattaya in 1998), losing all of them. She represented her country at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Li played seven years on the China Fed Cup team. She retired in 2001. Ginger Helgeson (born September 14, 1968) is a former American professional tennis player, who is considered to be perhaps the greatest player ever to come out of Minnesota. She reached her highest singles ranking on January 2, 1995, when she became the No. 29 in the world. In doubles, she reached No. 38 in the same year, on January 9. Tennis career Helgeson-Nielsen was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, before moving to Edina after seventh grade. She was coached by her brother, Brace, throughout juniors and high school. Sabine Appelmans (born 22 April 1972) is a former professional tennis player from Belgium. She was Belgium's Fed Cup captain from 2007 until 2011. Career Appelmans started playing at the neighbour's court at the age of seven. Her first trainer, Fred Debruyn, saw immediately that she was very talented.
