1992 Washington Redskins Season
The Washington Redskins season was the franchise's 61st season in the National Football League. This season began with the team trying to win their second Super Bowl in a row, following Super Bowl XXVI. The Redskins finished with a record of nine wins and seven losses, but still made the 1992–93 NFL playoffs. However, their hopes of back to back championships ended with a loss to the 49ers in the Divisional Round. The Redskins did not go back to the postseason until the 1999 season. This season would be Joe Gibbs' final season coaching the Washington Redskins until he returned in the 2004 season. Gibbs is the most successful coach in Redskins history, leading the team to three Super Bowl victories (1982, 1987, 1991), and eight playoff berths in eleven seasons (1981-1992). NFC East
The National Football Conference – Eastern Division or NFC East is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). It currently has four members: the Dallas Cowboys (based in Arlington, Texas), New York Giants (based in East Rutherford, New Jersey), Philadelphia Eagles (based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), and the Washington Commanders (based in Landover, Maryland). 1992 New York Jets Season
The 1992 New York Jets season was the 33rd season for the team and the 23rd in the National Football League. The Jets were looking to improve on their 8–8 record under head coach Bruce Coslet in 1991 and also make a second consecutive trip to the postseason. However, it was not to be. Background The Jets' problems began in the offseason when veteran quarterback Ken O'Brien announced he was holding out of training camp to get a new contract. O'Brien’s holdout continued into the season and Coslet named second-year backup Browning Nagle as the team's starter. Nagle did not have an effective year, only winning three of his thirteen starts. He was eventually replaced by O'Brien late in the year, but was pressed back into action after the veteran suffered a season-ending injury. The 1992 Miami Dolphins season was the franchise's 27th season in the National Football League. The season began with the team attempting to improve on their 8–8 record in 1991. The season was a success as the Dolphins finished the season 11–5, won the AFC East and returned to the playoffs after a one-year absence. Eric Matthew "Matt" Elliott (born October 1, 1968) is a former American football player. He played college football as a center and guard for the University of Michigan from 1988 to 1991.
