1992 United States Presidential Election In Minnesota
The 1992 United States presidential election in Minnesota took place on November 3, 1992, as part of the 1992 United States presidential election. Voters chose ten representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president. Minnesota was won by Governor Bill Clinton ( D-Arkansas) with 43.48% of the popular vote over incumbent President George H. W. Bush ( R-Texas) who took 31.85%, a victory margin of 11.63%. Businessman Ross Perot ( I-Texas) finished in third, with 23.96% of the popular vote. Clinton ultimately won the national vote, defeating incumbent President Bush. April 7, 1992, saw the first presidential primary in Minnesota since 1956. Clinton won a plurality of votes in the DFL primary and Bush won in the IR election. John Hagelin
John Samuel Hagelin (born June 9, 1954) is the leader of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement in the United States. He is president of the Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in Fairfield, Iowa, and honorary chair of its board of trustees. The university was established in 1973 by the TM movement's founder, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, to deliver a "consciousness-based education". Hagelin graduated in physics in 1981, and began post-doctoral research at the CERN for less than a year, then at the SLAC. The Natural Law Party (NLP) is a transnational party founded in 1992 on "the principles of Transcendental Meditation", the laws of nature, and their application to all levels of government. Jack Herer (; June 18, 1939 – April 15, 2010), sometimes called the "Emperor of Hemp", was an American cannabis rights activist and the author of ''The Emperor Wears No Clothes''. Herer founded and served as the director of the organization Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP). The Grassroots Party was a political third party in the United States established in 1986 to oppose drug prohibition. The party shared many of the progressive values of the Farmer-Labor Party but with an emphasis on cannabis/hemp legalization issues, and the organization traced their roots to the Youth International Party of the 1960s.
