1992 Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 1992 Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix was the fourth round of the 1992 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 8–10 May 1992 at the Jerez circuit. 500 cc race report Mick Doohan was on pole, and got the lead at the start from Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz. Doohan then opened a gap to Rainey, who in turn had a gap to a fight for 3rd between Schwantz and Àlex Crivillé. Crivillé retired and Niall Mackenzie went up to 3rd. Ducados is a brand of cigarettes that is currently owned and manufactured by Altadis, a division of Imperial Tobacco. ''Ducados'' is Spain, Spanish for ''Ducats'', a gold coin was part of the original design of the package. History The brand was introduced in 1963. Àlex Crivillé Tapias (born 4 March 1970) is a Spanish former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. In 1992 he became the first Spaniard to win a 500cc Grand Prix and, in 1999 he became the first Spaniard to win the 500cc World Championship. Biography Crivillé was born in Barcelona, Catalonia. He falsified his age in order to start racing at 14 in 1985, the minimum age for a license being 15 in Spain. Alexandre Barros (born October 18, 1970) is a Brazilian former professional motorcycle road racer who is a 7-time 500cc/MotoGP race winner and also a race winner in Superbike World Championship. John Douglas Chandler (born September 27, 1965) is an American former professional motorcycle racer. He earned a reputation as one of the most versatile racers of the 1980s and 1990s. Miguel Duhamel (born May 26, 1967) is a Canadian former professional motorcycle racer. He is the son of Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame member Yvon Duhamel. Juan Garriga
Joan Garriga Vilaresau (29 March 1963 – 27 August 2015) was a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He was known for his aggressive riding style. Together with Sito Pons, he helped to forge the path for Spanish riders in the World Championship’s premier class. Garriga had his best year in 1988, when he won three races and finished second in the 250cc world championship to Pons. In 1990, he moved up to the 500cc class but failed to repeat his successes in the 250 class. He also competed in the Superbike World Championship in 1993. In 1998, Garriga was arrested for drug trafficking and possessing illegal weapons, and ultimately sentenced to two years' imprisonment, suspended.
