1992 San Diego Mayoral Election
The 1992 San Diego mayoral election was held on November 3, 1992 to elect the mayor for San Diego. Incumbent mayor Maureen O'Connor chose not to run for reelection. Municipal elections in California are officially non-partisan, though some candidates do receive funding and support from various political parties. The non-partisan primary was held June 2, 1992. Peter Navarro and Susan Golding received the most votes and advanced to the November general election. Golding was elected mayor with a majority of the votes in the November election. Susan Golding
Susan G. Golding (born August 18, 1945) is an American Republican politician from California, best known as the former two-term mayor of San Diego. She is currently president and CEO of the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation in San Diego. and formerly president and CEO of the Golding Group, a strategy consulting firm and a Senior Fellow of Public Policy at the University of California at Los Angeles. She also serves on the boards and advisory committees of several organizations, including the Pacific Council on International Policy and the International Republican Institute. Peter Kent Navarro (born July 15, 1949) is an American political figure who served in the Trump administration as the Assistant to the President, Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, and the national Defense Production Act policy coordinator. Maureen O'Connor (California Politician)
Maureen Frances O'Connor (born July 14, 1946) is an American Democratic politician from California. She was the 31st mayor of San Diego from 1986 to 1992, the first woman to serve in that position. In 2013, federal prosecutors charged her with money laundering, but deferred prosecution based on her agreement to pay back the funds involved. The charges were formally dismissed by Judge David Bartick on February 24, 2015. Early life Maureen O'Connor was born in 1946 in San Diego, California.
