John Barrett (tennis)
John Edward Barrett, (born 17 April 1931) is a former tennis player, television commentator and author. He was born in Mill Hill, North West London, the son of Alfred Edward Barrett, a leaf tobacco merchant, and Margaret Helen Barrett (née Walker). He had one sister, Irene Margaret Leppington (1925–2009), a research chemist. His father had the rare distinction of having played both for Leicester Tigers RFC as a wing three-quarter and for Leicester Fosse FC (the former Leicester City) as a wing half. Biography Educated at University College School in Hampstead, he was a prominent British junior tennis player and won the National Schoolboy title in 1948. Linda Harvey Wild (born February 11, 1971) is a retired tennis player from the United States. Born as Linda Harvey, she later used the family name of her stepfather and coach Steve Wild. Wild turned professional in 1989. In the first round of her first tournament in February 1990 in her hometown of Chicago, she defeated then fifth-ranked Arantxa Sánchez Vicario. During her career on the WTA Tour, she won five singles and five doubles titles. Katerina Georgieva Maleeva ( bg, Катерина Георгиева Малеева; born 7 May 1969) is a former top 10 Bulgarian tennis player. She won eleven singles and two doubles WTA Tour titles. Her best position in the WTA rankings was No. 6 in 1990. Biography Born in Sofia, Maleeva is the second oldest of the three children of Georgi Maleev and Yuliya Berberyan. Her mother came from an Armenian family, which found refuge in Bulgaria after the 1896 Armenian massacres in the Ottoman Empire, and was the best Bulgarian tennis player in the 1960s. After she retired from professional tennis in the 1970s, Berberyan started a coaching career.
